We are assisting a London NHS Trust with the recruitment of an experienced FM Lead on a 3–6‑month contract. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Soft FM operations within healthcare or similarly complex environments, with proven leadership capability and a focus on delivering safe, compliant, and high‑quality facilities services.
As FM Lead, you will oversee cleaning, waste, hygiene, sustainability initiatives, and customer service functions across the Trust, ensuring services are compliant, efficient, and aligned with operational needs. This role is critical in maintaining safe, clean environments for patients, visitors, and staff while supporting ongoing service improvement.
Key responsibilities:
- Cleaning and Hygiene Standards
- Implement and monitor robust cleaning schedules across wards, public areas, offices, and clinical spaces.
- Ensure full compliance with NHS Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) guidelines and the National Cleaning Standards 2025.
- Conduct routine audits and inspections, resolving any issues swiftly.
- Lead, manage, and support cleaning teams, ensuring training and adherence to protocols.
- Investigate hygiene incidents, outbreaks, or service lapses, and implement corrective actions.
- Waste Management and Sustainability
- Oversee compliant waste segregation, storage, collection, and disposal in line with NHS requirements and environmental legislation.
- Promote recycling initiatives and lead sustainability improvements to reduce environmental impact.
- Ensure robust management of clinical, infectious, and hazardous waste streams.
- Deliver staff training and reinforce correct waste handling practices.
- Customer Service and Stakeholder Engagement
- Provide excellent customer service to patients, clinical teams, visitors and staff.
- Act as the central point of contact for Soft FM queries, concerns and service requests.
- Work collaboratively with clinical and administrative teams to ensure services meet operational priorities.
- Facilitate regular stakeholder review meetings to discuss performance, targets, and service feedback.
- Compliance, Reporting and Continuous Improvement
- Ensure all FM service lines comply with NHS policies, statutory regulations, contractual requirements and service specifications.
- Maintain precise records for audits, inspections, risk assessments and performance reporting.
- Analyse service delivery data to identify trends, root causes, and opportunities for improvement.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives, embedding innovation and best practice across FM services.
- Staff Training and Development
- Identify development needs within the Soft FM workforce, coordinating training and competency programmes.
- Promote a positive, inclusive workplace culture focused on safety, teamwork and service excellence.
- Conduct regular staff performance reviews, providing feedback, coaching, and development support.
