This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced support professional to join a dedicated team working with individuals who require housing-related support to achieve greater independence, improve their wellbeing, and successfully transition into long-term accommodation.

The successful candidate will manage a caseload of tenants, providing tailored support, coordinating access to services, and helping individuals overcome barriers to independent living.

The Role

As a Housing Support Officer, you will play a key role in delivering person-centred support to tenants living within supported accommodation services. Working closely with internal teams and external agencies, you will help individuals develop life skills, sustain their tenancies, and progress towards their personal goals.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Managing a caseload of tenants and delivering regular one-to-one support sessions.
  • Conducting needs and risk assessments, support plans, and reviews.
  • Developing tailored support programmes that promote independence and positive outcomes.
  • Supporting individuals to access welfare benefits, healthcare, education, training, employment, and community services.
  • Identifying barriers to progression and providing practical and emotional support to overcome them.
  • Supporting tenants through move-on and resettlement processes into permanent accommodation.

Housing & Tenancy Management

  • Assisting prospective tenants through assessment, viewing, sign-up, and move-in processes.
  • Ensuring tenants understand their tenancy or licence agreements and associated responsibilities.
  • Supporting rent collection and income maximisation through benefit applications and budgeting support.
  • Monitoring tenancy sustainment and escalating concerns where appropriate.
  • Working to minimise void periods and support efficient occupancy of accommodation.

About You

To be successful as a Housing Support Officer, you will ideally have:

  • Previous experience within supported housing, homelessness services, social care, tenancy sustainment, or a similar support environment.
  • Experience managing caseloads and delivering person-centred support.
  • Strong knowledge of welfare benefits, housing support, safeguarding, and risk management.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • The ability to motivate and empower individuals facing multiple and complex challenges.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities effectively.
  • A commitment to equality, diversity, inclusion, and delivering high-quality support services.

If you are passionate about supporting people to achieve independence and are looking for your next challenge within the housing and support sector, we would be keen to hear from you.
