The Opportunity
A leading FM service provider is looking for an experienced Engineering Supervisor to join its Technical Services team at a major residential and education campus in South East London. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced M&E professional who enjoys combining hands-on engineering expertise with team leadership, compliance and operational management.
You will lead the on-site residential M&E engineering team, overseeing day-to-day maintenance activities and ensuring that planned and reactive works are delivered safely, efficiently and to a high standard. Working closely with the Engineering Lead, Facilities Manager, Helpdesk and wider facilities team, you will play a key role in maintaining the reliability, compliance and performance of the site.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, supervise and support a team of on-site engineers, including performance management, training and development.
- Oversee the delivery of planned preventative and reactive maintenance across M&E and building-fabric systems.
- Coordinate daily engineering activities with the Helpdesk to ensure service requests are responded to within agreed timescales.
- Ensure all engineering activities comply with Health & Safety legislation, company policies and site procedures.
- Maintain robust Safe Systems of Work and Permit to Work arrangements.
- Carry out regular audits and inspections to maintain high standards of quality, compliance and documentation.
- Manage subcontractors and specialist suppliers, including scheduling, site coordination, quality assurance and safety checks.
- Provide technical support and guidance to the engineering team.
- Assist with identifying maintenance issues, improving asset reliability and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
- Work collaboratively with the Facilities Manager and Engineering Lead to ensure the effective operation of the site.
About You
We are looking for an experienced building services professional with a strong practical engineering background and proven supervisory experience. You should have:
- HND, NVQ or equivalent qualification in a relevant engineering/building services discipline.
- Extensive practical experience within building services, M&E or plant engineering.
- A recognised technical qualification in an electrical, mechanical or related discipline.
- Previous experience supervising or managing a team of engineers.
- Previous experience acting as an Authorised Person (AP) in one or more relevant disciplines, such as:
- LV electrical systems
- Mechanical Services
- Confined Spaces
- Boiler and Pressure Systems
- Other relevant AP disciplines
- Strong knowledge of Health & Safety, compliance and engineering operational procedures.
- Experience managing contractors and specialist suppliers.
- Excellent communication, organisational and leadership skills.
- The ability to work effectively in a busy, customer-focused FM environment.
Desirable Qualifications & Experience

- 18th Edition – Requirements for Electrical Installations
- Level 3 Initial Verification and Certification
- IOSH Managing Safely
- ILM or equivalent management qualification/membership
- Emergency First Aid qualification
- Experience working within listed, heritage or World Heritage environments.
