Insight Executive is supporting our client on a major digital transformation programme and is now looking for an Application Operations Engineer to join the team. This is an opportunity to play a hands-on role in a high-profile migration programme, supporting the move from Google Workspace to Microsoft 365 across a large and complex government environment.
Working within the Chief Digital Information Office, you will join the Digital Enterprise Services team, which provides and supports infrastructure, telephony, networks, WiFi, cloud capability, end-user devices and software across the Cabinet Office estate. Reporting to the Cloud Operations Manager, you will play a key role in migration remediation activity, helping to resolve issues, manage data challenges and support users during a critical phase of change.
What you’ll be doing:
- Acting as a key point of contact for data remediation linked to the move from Google Workspace to M365
- Troubleshooting migration issues across Google Workspace and AODocs
- Modifying data using user interfaces, admin consoles and API tools such as GAM
- Managing and triaging incoming migration issues
- Maintaining regular contact with users to understand needs and resolve challenges
- Building effective working relationships with the Microsoft migration team
- Supporting the Digital Records Management team with the AODocs document library
- Working with the Project Delivery team on the migration of data out of Google Workspace
- Creating documentation, training materials, processes and service desk knowledge articles
What we’re looking for:
Essential:
- Active SC clearance
- Experience working in 3rd line support within a busy IT support environment
- Experience in data migrations and migration tools
- Strong experience using Google Apps Manager (GAM)
- Experience managing SaaS-based messaging platforms such as Google Workspace and Office 365
- Confidence dealing with senior stakeholders and VIP users
Desirable:
- Experience with AD, MS Exchange and SharePoint
- Experience managing and administering Microsoft 365 and SharePoint
- Good understanding of change management principles relating to messaging platform change
- Experience with document management systems such as AODocs
- Experience managing a large Google Workspace domain, including third-party tools
Technical skills:
- Troubleshooting and investigation
- GAM commands
- Google Drive
- Google Workspace administration
