We are looking for an experienced VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) Consultant / Solutions Architect to join Insight’s Services organisation. In this senior role, you will design and deliver VMware Cloud Foundation–based hybrid cloud and software‑defined data centre (SDDC) solutions for enterprise clients across EMEA. You will combine deep technical ability with strong consulting skills to translate business requirements into secure, scalable, and resilient architecture, and you will play a key part in our strategic Broadcom / VMware partnership. If you are a seasoned VMware expert who enjoys working at the intersection of architecture, delivery, and client advisory, we would be keen to hear from you. This is a hybrid role. You will typically spend three days per week on client sites or in an Insight office, with the remaining time working from home.
Key responsibilities:
- Design end‑to‑end VMware Cloud Foundation architectures covering compute, storage, networking, and lifecycle management.
- Lead deployments, upgrades, and migrations of VCF and associated VMware technologies (vSphere, vSAN, NSX, Aria suite).
- Conduct assessments of existing client infrastructure and produce high‑quality design documentation, implementation plans, and operational guides.
- Provide technical leadership during complex transformation projects, including automation, cloud integration, and modernisation initiatives.
- Work closely with cross‑functional teams to troubleshoot, optimise, and enhance VCF platform performance and reliability.
- Advise customers on VCF roadmap, operational best practice, and lifecycle management to maximise value and minimise risk.
- Support pre‑sales activities by shaping solutions, creating high‑level designs, and taking part in client workshops, presentations, and estimations.
- Mentor colleagues and contribute to the development of internal capability around Broadcom / VMware technologies.
- Maintain strong relationships with VMware/Broadcom and other strategic partners, staying abreast of product developments and programmes.
Skills and experience required:
- Significant, hands‑on experience with VMware Cloud Foundation, including management and workload domains and SDDC Manager.
- Deep knowledge of core VMware technologies: vSphere, vSAN and NSX‑T; experience with VMware Aria / automation tooling.
- Proven record in designing and delivering large scale SDDC or hybrid cloud environments for enterprise clients.
- Strong consulting skills, with the ability to engage confidently with both technical and senior business stakeholders.
- Solid understanding of networking concepts and architectures; exposure to adjacent technologies such as Nutanix and public cloud platforms is highly desirable.
- Experience working in a client‑facing consultancy role, balancing solution design with hands‑on implementation (50/50).
- Broadcom Knight status is a strong advantage; alternatively, the capability and ambition to achieve this invite‑only accreditation in an accelerated timeframe.
- Familiarity with operating in partnered ecosystems and working to vendor best practices and accreditation paths.
- Security clearance (or eligibility to obtain UK security clearance) is helpful but not essential.
- Experience in relevant VMware, data centre, or hybrid cloud roles.
