Insight Employment is recruiting on behalf of our client, a leading manufacturing and warehousing business based in Bedford, for an experienced Team Leader to join their Canning Line operation. This is an excellent opportunity to become part of a fast-paced production environment where you will play a key role in leading a team, maintaining operational efficiency, and ensuring production targets are achieved while upholding the highest standards of quality, food safety, and health & safety.
Key Requirements:
- Previous experience in a Team Leader or Supervisory position within a warehouse, manufacturing, food, or beverage production environment.
- Experience working within a food and/or drinks manufacturing setting.
- A good understanding of HACCP principles and food safety practices.
- Experience using SAP systems (preferred).
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage a team effectively.
- A sound understanding of health & safety procedures and safe working practices.
- Good verbal and written English communication skills.
- Excellent attendance, punctuality, and reliability.
- A positive, proactive, and hardworking attitude.
- Good physical fitness, as manual handling and lifting may be required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leading and supervising a team of Canning Line Operatives within a fast-paced, automated production environment.
- Coordinating the safe movement of materials between warehouse, canning, and production areas.
- Using SAP handheld devices and systems to accurately manage stock movements and inventory control.
- Maintaining high standards of housekeeping, cleanliness, and hygiene across all work areas.
- Supporting operational activities, including material handling, cleaning, and basic autonomous maintenance tasks.
- Ensuring equipment, tools, and machinery are operated safely and correctly, reporting faults or defects promptly.
- Ensuring full compliance with Quality, Food Safety, HACCP, Food Defence, and Health & Safety procedures.
- Monitoring team performance and supporting the achievement of production, efficiency, and site performance targets.
- Promoting a positive safety culture and ensuring all team members follow company procedures and policies.
Working Hours: 39 hours per week on a rotating three-shift pattern: 06:00am - 14:00pm, 14:00pm - 22:00pm, 22:00pm - 06:00am
