Location: Bedford

Insight Employment is recruiting on behalf of our client, a well-established manufacturing and warehousing business based in Bedford, for an experienced Canning Line Operative to join their production team. This is an excellent opportunity to work within a fast-paced manufacturing environment, where you will play a key role in ensuring the smooth operation of the canning line, maintaining quality standards, and supporting production targets while adhering to strict food safety and health & safety procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor conveyor belts and canning line equipment to ensure products meet quality standards.
  • Inspect cans and bottles for defects, reporting any issues promptly.
  • Maintain high levels of accuracy and attention to detail throughout the production process.
  • Operate production machinery safely and efficiently.
  • Carry out routine checks and basic maintenance as required.
  • Follow all company procedures relating to food safety, quality control, and health & safety.
  • Support the wider production team to achieve daily production targets.

Skills & Experience Required:

  • Previous experience working on a canning line or within a fast-paced food production/manufacturing environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high quality standards.
  • Good understanding of health & safety procedures within a production setting.
  • The ability to stand for extended periods and undertake manual handling duties, including lifting up to 40 lbs.
  • Counterbalance forklift experience is preferred but not essential.
  • Candidates with either an in-date or expired Counterbalance licence will be considered, as refresher training can be provided on-site.

Working Hours:

This role is based on a 39-hour working week, operating on a rotating three-shift pattern: 06:00am-14:00pm, 14:00pm-22:00pm, 22:00pm-06:00am.
