A highly regarded international trading business is seeking a Settlements and Trade Accounting Manager to join its Financial Management team. This is a key hire in a role combining trade accounting, settlements oversight, operating expense control, technical accounting support, and audit liaison within a fast-paced trading environment.
You will take ownership of the accounting and settlement processes arising from the company’s trading activity, helping ensure accurate financial reporting, strong internal control, and smooth execution across the transaction lifecycle.
The role
- Oversee daily trade accounting, settlements accounting, and operating expense activities
- Ensure accurate accounting, efficient supplier payments, timely allocation of receipts, and effective ledger maintenance
- Support the settlement and reconciliation of trading-related cashflows, receivables, and payables
- Manage month-end and quarter-end close and reporting processes to agreed deadlines
- Provide technical accounting support on new and existing trading transactions
- Support internal and external audit requirements
- Supervise one accounting team member
- Assist with ad hoc issues and projects as they arise
What we are looking for
- Qualified accountant with at least 4 years’ PQE, or a strong qualified-by-experience background
- Practical knowledge of IFRS, especially IFRS 9 and IFRS 15
- Strong Excel and general systems capability
- Able to work accurately under pressure and manage competing priorities
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively across finance and commercial teams
Helpful additional experience
- Multi-currency accounting
- Exposure to FX, derivative futures, or similar hedging products
- SAP S/4HANA, Concur, or DocuWare
- Strong understanding of internal controls
- Prior experience in commodities, metals, trading, or another transaction-led environment would be advantageous
