  • Help match buyer and seller interest and ensure trades are captured accurately and on time.
  • Learn and apply the desk’s voice-broking protocols and electronic broking tools (trading platforms training provided).
  • Client and counterparty engagement - Build relationships with a defined set of clients under guidance from senior brokers.
  • Learn client mandates, trading strategies and risk appetite to better anticipate needs.
  • Provide reliable market updates, relevant deal flow information and timely responses during the trading day.
  • Communicate professionally by phone, written message and in person.
  • Deal processing, controls and compliance - Complete deal tickets and trade confirmations accurately, following internal procedures and applicable regulatory obligations (FCA-regulated environment).
  • Record transactions promptly in broking and compliance systems to support audit trail and post-trade reporting.
  • Follow internal policies and industry codes of conduct, including requirements related to recorded/monitored communications.
  • Escalate booking issues, discrepancies, or compliance concerns promptly to the desk head and/or compliance.
  • Market knowledge and research - Build a working understanding of fundamental drivers in European gas, power and carbon markets (supply/demand, weather, generation, interconnectors, outages, regulation and macro factors).
  • Track relevant sources (including Ofgem, ACER, ICE and EEX) and contribute to internal desk discussions as knowledge develops.
  • Monitor competitor activity and market structure changes to support the desk’s commercial positioning.
  • Business development support - Flag potential new client opportunities to senior brokers.
  • Assist with client materials (product overviews, market commentary, and simple analysis).
  • Support relationship activities such as industry events or client meetings in line with company policy; occasional out-of-hours attendance may be required.
