Insight Care Group is a specialist provider of children’s residential care, supporting young people with learning disabilities, complex needs, and trauma-related behaviours. We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Responsible Individual - Children's Homes (RI) to oversee our two therapeutic homes:
- A 4-bed home in Handsworth Wood, rated Ofsted GOOD
- A newly opened 2-bed home in Cradley Heath
As our Responsible Individual, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring both homes deliver high-quality, child-centred care, uphold Ofsted standards, and embody our therapeutic ethos, which incorporates the PACE model (Playfulness, Acceptance, Curiosity, Empathy). This is an exciting opportunity to shape services, mentor managers, and drive improvement across two specialist homes.
You’ll be joining a supportive senior leadership team and a company that values its employees. We invest in our staff through regular training, reflective supervision, and opportunities to progress. You will work closely with the operations director and managers to drive progress and positive outcomes for young people.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the Responsible Individual - Children's Homes for Insight Care Group
- Work closely with directors to shape the ethos and drive the development of a young organisation
- Lead on safeguarding, compliance, and quality assurance across both homes
- Line manage and supervise Registered Managers, ensuring reflective supervision, performance reviews, and professional development
- Oversee all Reg 44, Reg 45, and Reg 40 submissions, audits, and monthly QA reports (RI and RM)
- Maintain ClearCare reporting system oversight, ensuring accurate and timely incident reviews
- Ensure oversight of workforce development plans, SOPs, risk assessments, and environmental audits
- Review and sign off recruitment and onboarding files, ensuring compliance with Schedule 2 / 4 and safer recruitment practices
- Chair monthly senior leadership and risk register meetings; support Registered Managers during inspections and challenges
- Provide leadership on policy review, legislation updates, and the development of scalable, child-focused practice
About You
Essential:
- Level 5 Diploma in Leadership & Management for Residential Childcare (or equivalent)
- Minimum 3 years of experience as a Registered Manager or Responsible Individual - Children's Homes in children’s residential care
- Excellent working knowledge of Children’s Homes Regulations 2015, Ofsted inspection framework, and safeguarding legislation
- Ability to manage multiple services and mentor managers towards improved practice and outcomes
- Strong report writing, audit, and quality assurance skills
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for regular travel
Desirable:
- Experience working with young people with learning disabilities, complex behaviours, and therapeutic models of care
- Familiarity with ClearCare or similar electronic care management systems
- Experience contributing to business growth, staff training, and in-house policy development

- Salary: £65,000 – £75,000 depending on experience, not including KPI related bonuses
