We’re at an exciting point in our data journey at Inside Travel Group. We’re early in our data journey with an initial Databricks setup in place, and early phases underway. Now we’re looking for someone to take ownership and shape what this becomes. This is a foundational role where you’ll own “everything data” as we move forward:

  • Setting the direction and defining what good looks like
  • Building on what’s already in place and shaping the next phases
  • Driving how data is used across the business

You’ll have the opportunity to make a real impact early, with the freedom to set the agenda and the backing to do it properly.

Key responsibilities

  • Define and lead our data strategy and roadmap
  • Build and evolve our data platform (including pipelines, models and standards)
  • Establish governance, quality and “trusted data” practices
  • Partner with teams across the business to deliver meaningful insight
  • Enable self‑serve reporting and consistent KPIs
  • Set the foundations for a scalable data function and future team

What we are looking for from you

You don’t need to tick every box – we’re more interested in how you think and approach problems. We’re looking for someone who:

  • Has experience shaping data strategy in evolving or ambiguous environments
  • Is hands‑on technically (SQL, Python, data pipelines, modelling)
  • Has worked with modern platforms such as Databricks or similar
  • Understands data governance, quality and building trust in data
  • Can translate between business needs and technical solutions

And importantly

  • You enjoy ownership and autonomy
  • You’re pragmatic – you build things properly without over‑engineering
  • You focus on real business impact, not just the tech
  • You’re comfortable starting hands‑on and growing a team over time

As an equal opportunities employer, we’re committed to making our recruitment process inclusive, accessible, and welcoming for everyone. If you require any adjustments or accommodations to support you during the recruitment process, please let us know.

What you get in return

  • Annual discretionary performance (individual and company related) bonus
  • 25 days annual leave, rising by one day each year to a maximum of 28 days
  • Day off on your birthday
  • Enhanced parental leave
  • Employer pension contribution
  • Employee Assistance Program
  • Volunteering leave
  • Designated learning and development time

This role is based in our Bristol office with a hybrid working pattern. We’re happy to discuss this further during the interview process.
