The predicted salary is between 32000 - 40000 Β£ per year.

Metal worker CONTRACTORS REQUIRED. Role is Inside IR35. Contractors DO NOT apply if you're not willing to work Umbrella Inside IR35.

Skill set for specialist metal worker:

  • Use of hand tools: pistol drills, hand drills, pillar-drills. Must have good speed control and precision placement. Some jobs require the holes to be finished to size by use of a reamer tool.
  • Hand snips/tin snips are used on selected high spec jobs, and this would be an added benefit to a candidate if they were to have experience using these.
  • Grinding/polishing: User must be efficient in the use of grinding and polishing tools and have experience working with tight aerospace tolerances and understanding surface finishing.
  • Bandsaws: Experience in cutting 3D formed parts on a Bandsaw. The operator must have a good eye for detail as they will be using a scribe line as cutting guidance and tolerances are critical.
  • Fly-press: Experience in setting and using a fly-press machine. The setting of the die and cutting edge to tolerance measurement and the application of the process.
  • Reading drawings and technical sheets: A good understanding of reading engineering drawings and being able to follow written instruction to comply with customer spec and produce confirming parts.

37.5 hour standard week, potential for 10 hours additional overtime.

  • Competent in the use of hand held and fixed trimming and polishing equipment.
  • Proven ability to set up equipment accurately and consistently to achieve repeatable, high quality outputs.
  • Sound knowledge of inspection techniques and use of measuring equipment.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify defects, non-conformances and process issues, with a focus on right first time delivery.
  • Experience in training, coaching or mentoring other operators.
  • Ability to plan workload, prioritise tasks and manage time effectively in a fast paced production environment.
  • Strong communication skills, with confidence to raise concerns, escalate issues and collaborate across functions.
  • Good level of IT literacy for completion of production, quality and training records.
  • High attention to detail, with a disciplined and safety focused approach to work.
  • Flexible and adaptable, with willingness to support other areas when required.
