Are you keen to work somewhere that’s stimulating and friendly, with loads of opportunities for growth and plenty of freedom to make a real impact? This could be the place for you! Trusted by the world's leading platforms — Uber, Uber Eats, Amazon, Bolt, Ola, FreeNow — and pioneering the future of autonomous vehicle insurance, INSHUR is redefining the future of mobility. We are looking for a Junior Finance Assistant (Part-Time) to join us at INSHUR! We’re based in sunny Brighton, and our company embraces a hybrid working model, allowing you to thrive in both collaborative office settings and the comfort of your own home. You’ll have the opportunity to work remotely while also connecting with your colleagues at our Brighton office 1-day-per-week as part of a 3 day week cycle, fostering a dynamic and supportive environment.

Supported by (and reporting to) the Financial Controller, you’ll be joining a small, high-impact finance team who believe in accuracy, strong controls, and using smart financial systems to enable fast, confident decision‑making across the business. We value high performance and care deeply about making INSHUR a place where everyone is building something special — something we can all be proud of — while enjoying the ride.

What you’ll do

  • As a Junior Finance Assistant, you will be responsible for supporting the day‑to‑day running of Accounts Payable and banking operations, ensuring company spend is accurately recorded, approved, and reconciled across our financial systems.
  • AP & Systems Management: Owning and managing the AP inbox and invoice workflows using our AP automation platform, ensuring invoices are accurately coded and synced with Sage Intacct.
  • Multi-Platform Spend Reconciliation: Capturing and reconciling spend across tools such as Pleo, Expensify, Cledara, and AMEX, ensuring receipts are attached, compliant, and correctly categorised.
  • Banking & Payments: Preparing bi‑monthly payment runs, drafting domestic and international payments, and carrying out bank and card reconciliations with a high level of accuracy.
  • Vendor Management & Controls: Maintaining the Sage Intacct Vendor Master File, onboarding new suppliers, and coordinating strict verification processes for any changes to supplier payment details.
  • Month‑End Support: Supporting month‑end close activities by ensuring all transactions, payments, and reconciliations are complete, accurate, and audit‑ready.
  • Ad‑hoc tasks: Support the team where needed.

What we’re looking for

While we prioritise aptitude and passion over a strict checklist of requirements, we’ve outlined a core set of skills we believe will lead to success in this role. To make things clear, we’ve categorised them into essentials to thrive in the role and additional skills that could set you apart.

Essentials to thrive in the role:

  • Financial Systems Experience: Experience working with accounting or AP systems, ideally Sage Intacct and AP automation tools, is key to maintaining accurate and efficient financial operations.
  • Strong Excel Skills: Confidence using Excel to reconcile statements and analyse financial data is essential in a multi‑platform finance environment.
  • Exceptional Attention to Detail: A high level of accuracy is critical, particularly when handling manual payments, VAT coding, and sensitive financial data.
  • Proactive Communication: The ability to confidently and professionally follow up with stakeholders to secure invoice approvals, receipts, and documentation on time.
  • Confidentiality & Trust: Absolute discretion when handling sensitive company spend, supplier information, and executive expenses.

Additional skills that could set you apart:

  • Familiarity with Finance Tech Stacks: Experience with tools such as Stampli, Pleo, Expensify, Cledara, or corporate card platforms is a strong advantage.
  • International Payments Exposure: Experience supporting international wires or multi‑currency transactions helps ensure accuracy and compliance across territories.
  • Process‑Improvement Mindset: An interest in improving systems, controls, and workflows within a fast‑growing, tech‑enabled finance function.
  • Vendor Onboarding Experience: Experience collecting and managing supplier documentation such as W9s, VAT certificates, and bank details.
  • Fast‑Paced Environment Experience: Comfort working in a scaling business where priorities evolve and attention to detail really matters.

You’ll love it here if you:

  • Thrive navigating ambiguity and finding clarity in uncertain situations.
  • Take pride in being accountable and owning your responsibilities.
  • Enjoy in a fast‑paced environment where change happens quickly.
  • Enjoy innovating with AI and other technologies to find creative solutions.
  • Are solutions‑focused and driven to overcome challenges.
  • Embrace resilience and adapt to setbacks with a positive attitude.
  • Are intellectually curious, constantly seeking to learn, explore new ideas, and not afraid to question and improve your understanding.

You may not enjoy working here if you:

  • Prefer a more structured, slow‑moving environment.
  • Feel most comfortable when tasks and processes are clearly defined from the start.
  • Struggle with handling multiple challenges at once or adapting to frequent changes.
  • Tend to stick strictly to your defined role and avoid contributing outside of your responsibilities.

What to expect from the process:

  • Screen & Intro: 30‑minute video call with the Talent Team to discuss the role and your experience.
  • Interview: An in‑person interview with the Financial Controller and Accounts Assistant to delve into the role, including technical & team fit questions and an opportunity for you to ask questions.
  • Followed by a quick 30 minute interview with our people operations lead.

We encourage you to ask questions about the role and the company throughout the hiring process. We believe that this is as much an opportunity for you to interview us as it is for us to interview you.

What we offer

Our budget for this role is £27,000 to £29,000 (pro rata) and we will take into account any previous experience and location of work when agreeing on the final offer. We offer all our employees stock options and we will pay into your pension monthly. We’ve also built a benefits package that invests in our people’s long‑term personal and professional growth and wellbeing. Here’s a sample of what this includes:

  • Flexible working hours to suit your lifestyle
  • ÂŁ500 annual personal training allowance plus regular learning opportunities on a variety of topics
  • ÂŁ40 monthly wellbeing to keep you healthy
  • 24/7 Employee Assistance Program, covering you and immediate family members—offering crisis support, counselling, legal advice, menopause CBT, and more
