We’re a team of curious, driven people using technology to change how insurance works for the better. If you like to move fast, think differently, and do work that actually matters, you’re in the right place. At INSHUR, we are more than just insurance. We're a team committed to delivering exceptional service and staying true to the principles that drive us forward.
We walk the talk. We’re accountable for our actions and commitments. We don’t just set goals and make promises; we follow through on them. By taking ownership and acting with integrity, we build trust with our people, customers, and partners. We do what we say we’ll do. We’re committed to action and results. We stay focused under pressure and see things through, even when it’s hard. We don’t settle for the first answer. We experiment, adapt, and keep going until we’re proud of what we’ve delivered.
We achieve more together. We believe the sum is greater than its parts. We build strong relationships, share information openly, and actively seek out different perspectives. When we combine our skills and experiences, we reach a level none of us could reach alone, and we celebrate that together.
We learn relentlessly. We embrace curiosity and growth, constantly evolving to meet the changing needs of our industry. Right now, that means pushing ourselves and each other to understand and use AI in everything we do, not because we have to, but because we genuinely believe it makes us better. We’re all on that learning curve together. We use AI to work smarter. Every team at INSHUR has access to AI tools, and we invest in helping people use them well. Whatever your role, you will be encouraged to get hands-on, experiment with what is possible, and help shape how we use these tools across the business.
Learning and development. We provide an individual learning budget, personal development plans, levelling & progression frameworks, coaching, and ongoing learning opportunities to support the continuous growth of our team members. To ensure that everyone can take control of their own learning and development, we make access to learning as effortless as possible.
DEI and equal opportunities. We recognise that everyone has a contribution to make to our society and a right to equal opportunities is a right for all. We're committed to providing a working environment where everyone can be their authentic self. We recognise, value, and celebrate the individual differences and contributions of all team members. We care deeply about wellbeing and value physical and mental health equally. We encourage generous time off to restore, recharge, and rebuild. To help us create a culture where speaking about wellbeing isn't only perfectly acceptable but an essential part of our DNA, we provide wellbeing tips and resources and share our stories in a public forum. Our managers are MHFA trained and we have an Employee Assistance Programme.
Flexible and hybrid-remote working. We all have an optimum rhythm. We hold the values of ownership, responsibility, and autonomy dear, which is why we embrace flexible and hybrid working. Our guiding principles around documentation, visibility, and social interactions help us ensure people can work productively and successfully, regardless of location.
Life at INSHUR. INSHUR is full of people who care: about the work, about the mission, and about each other. That shows up in how we give feedback, how we handle the tough moments, and how much genuine goodwill there is across the business. It also shows up in the standards we hold ourselves to. This isn’t a place where average is fine. We’re building something, and everyone here is part of that. You’ll be challenged, supported, and trusted to bring your best. That combination of high standards and real heart is what makes INSHUR a place people want to stay.
As a Claims Handler at INSHUR, you’ll take ownership of a diverse portfolio of third-party motor claims, including personal injury, playing a key role in delivering fast, fair, and data-driven outcomes. You will work in a modern, tech-enabled environment where you’re trusted to make decisions, challenge the status quo, and help shape how claims are handled from first notification through to settlement. This role reports to the Claims Team Leader and sits within a friendly, collaborative team of claims professionals. We're based in Brighton, with a hybrid working model. You'll come into the office at least once a week, with the rest of your time remote.
What you'll do:
- Manage end-to-end claims: Take full visibility and control of third-party motor claims from first notification through to settlement, covering both damage and personal injury elements.
- Drive confident claim resolutions: Make sound liability decisions and navigate claims to resolution using a strong commercial mindset.
- Negotiate optimal outcomes: Effectively negotiate with third parties, insurers, and legal representatives to achieve the right result at the right cost.
- Leverage a digital-first approach: Build strong relationships across the insurance market while influencing claim outcomes digitally.
- Collaborate across teams: Work closely with product, data, and operations teams to identify emerging trends and elevate overall claims performance.
- Optimise processes through tech: Use technology and data insights to streamline workflows, reduce friction, and enhance the overall customer experience.
What we're looking for:
- Motor Claims Handling Experience: Proven track record handling motor claims, including exposure to personal injury, and demonstrating strong technical claims judgement.
- Decision-Making & Negotiation: Confident decision-maker and effective negotiator comfortable operating in a fast-paced environment.
- Data & Tech Orientation: Enjoys working with data and technology to innovate and challenge legacy processes.
- Solutions-Focused Ownership: Demonstrates accountability, moves quickly, and brings a problem-solving mindset to complex challenges.
- Customer & Commercial Focus: Passionate about delivering exceptional customer outcomes without losing sight of overall commercial performance.
Nice to have:
- Adaptability in Evolving Environments: Thrives when collaborating with cross-functional teams in a fast-changing, scaling company setting.
- Curiosity & Continuous Improvement: Intellectually curious and eager to learn, explore new ideas, and constantly improve processes.
What to expect from the process:
- Screen & Intro: A 30-minute video call with the Talent Team to discuss the role, your background, and your experience.
- First Interview: A 60-minute video call to dive deeper into your experience and get to know your motivations.
- Final Stage: An in-person interview at our Brighton office to meet the team.
What we offer:
- Competitive salary, benchmarked to market by location, plus stock options for every employee.
- 30 days of holiday annually, plus bank holidays.
- Private healthcare for you and your family, including pre-existing conditions.
- 13 weeks parental leave at full pay for new parents.
- Workplace nursery scheme allowing you to pay fees pre-tax.
- Ride to work scheme.
- Workplace pension scheme to help you save for retirement.
- Flexible working hours to suit your lifestyle.
- £500 annual personal training allowance plus regular learning opportunities on a variety of topics.
- £40 monthly wellbeing and WFH allowance to keep you healthy and productive.
- 24/7 Employee Assistance Program, covering you and immediate family members—offering crisis support, counselling, legal advice, menopause CBT, and more.
- Unlimited AI usage with Claude and Gemini.
Working here:
- You’ll do well here if you move through ambiguity without waiting for a perfect brief.
- Take ownership of outcomes, not just tasks.
- Adapt quickly when priorities shift, and help others do the same.
- Look for ways to improve how things work, not just how to complete them.
- Use tools, data, and colleagues to make better decisions.
This probably isn't the right fit if you:
- Prefer clearly defined processes and a stable, slow-moving environment.
- Are most comfortable staying within the boundaries of your job description.
- Find frequent context-switching draining rather than energising.
