We’re leading the logistics revolution, powering deliveries across the UK for some of the nation’s biggest high-street and online brands. Our depots are the backbone of our operation, ensuring seamless logistics and top‑notch service for our customers.

About the role

At InPost, our General Manager plays a key role in keeping everything running smoothly at site level. You’ll lead the overall operation of the hub, making sure our sortation teams deliver great service, hit performance targets, and keep parcels moving efficiently. You’ll work closely with both internal teams and external partners to support the site’s success, balancing performance, cost, and customer expectations. Just as importantly, you’ll create a positive and safe working environment—championing strong health & safety standards and building great relationships with your people, including Trade Union engagement. This is a hands‑on leadership role where you’ll bring teams together, drive results, and help shape a high‑performing, people‑focused operation.

What you’ll be responsible for:

  • Lead the execution of all inbound and outbound sortation activities, ensuring service levels are consistently met
  • Monitor national and local KPIs, taking swift corrective action where needed
  • Maintain high operational standards across the site, supporting the wider Sort & Transport network
  • Champion a strong health & safety culture, ensuring compliance and accountability at all times
  • Support and guide Sort management teams in handling absence management, performance and disciplinary matters, and employee relations, including Trade Union engagement
  • Develop a high-performing team through coaching, training, and succession planning
  • Foster a positive, engaged, and accountable working environment

Driving Performance & Strategy:

  • Embed a culture of continuous improvement, identifying smarter ways of working
  • Contribute to local and company‑wide operational projects
  • Ensure full utilisation of Yard Management systems and processes
  • Effectively manage operational changes during peak periods and special events

Key KPIs you’ll own:

  • Increase Parcels Per Hour (PPH)
  • Lower Cost Per Parcel (CPP)
  • Deliver against SLAs
  • Improve attendance and reduce absence
  • Champion and role‑model InPost values
  • Build strong, commercially effective relationships with suppliers
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to drive operational success
  • Maintain a constructive and progressive relationship with Trade Union representatives
  • Manage site costs effectively, ensuring operations remain within agreed budgets
  • Use performance data and insights to inform decisions and improve efficiency

What we need from you:

  • Proven experience and success in senior management in a Logistics/ Supply Chain environment with demonstrated experience of working within a Warehousing & Distribution environment, working effectively with a Transport function.
  • Demonstrated experience of working in a Unionised environment.
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety legislation and experience in managing H&S at site level.
  • Established people manager, experience of handling ER issues.

We strive to create an open, equal, inclusive environment in which everyone has the opportunity to flourish and be themselves.
