The Network Engineer is responsible for the day-to-day operation, maintenance and development of InPost UK's network infrastructure. Working as part of a small, collaborative IT team, this role spans the full network lifecycle from designing and delivering connectivity at new sites, through to ongoing monitoring, incident resolution and continuous improvement. The role requires a proactive, self-motivated individual who takes ownership of their work, maintains high standards of documentation and operational hygiene, and is always looking for ways to improve the reliability and performance of the network.
- Monitor the network proactively, responding to alerts and support tickets in a timely and professional manner.
- Perform configuration changes and updates across network equipment, working within existing change management processes.
- Identify, investigate and resolve network faults, liaising with third party vendors and suppliers where necessary, and escalating where appropriate.
- Plan and deliver network infrastructure at new and existing sites, from initial design through to installation, contractor management and handover.
- Maintain and improve the quality of network alerting, reducing false positives and eliminating true negatives.
- Manage site-based contractors, coordinating equipment logistics and overseeing physical installations.
- Maintain network cabinets and cabling to a high standard.
- Ensure configuration backups are maintained for all network equipment.
- Contribute to the planning and delivery of IT projects, including maintaining accurate project documentation and providing regular status updates.
- Work collaboratively across internal teams, including Service Management, Technical Project Delivery and Solution Design.
- Build and maintain effective working relationships with third party suppliers, partners and site-based contractors.
- Keep technical stakeholders and project teams informed of any changes to systems or processes that may affect them.
- Provide clear and helpful technical guidance to colleagues and end users.
- Take an AI-first approach to network operations, embracing automation and AI tools to improve and streamline everything we do.
- Research emerging technologies and make informed suggestions on how they could be adopted to meet business goals.

- Hands-on experience with network hardware, whether in a professional, home lab or educational environment.
- The ability to demonstrate practical experience is essential.
- Awareness of network security concepts and general best practices.
- Demonstrable experience of using AI tools in a practical context.
