About the role: The Depot Network Improvement Manager is a strategic business partner to UK Operations leadership, supporting Depot Operations Directors and the Facilities, Maintenance & Engineering Director to shape and deliver the long-term depot and network strategy. Responsible for developing the 5–10 year depot network and automation roadmap, translating strategy into an operational depot model and leading a multi-year programme of network growth and automation across the UK operation. This role is responsible for driving programme governance and change delivery across major initiatives including depot design, asset deployment and service development, ensuring alignment across frontline teams, suppliers and support functions. Oversees initiative budgets, cost optimisation and compliance, while enabling clear reporting, risk management and decision-making across key operational transformation programmes. This role requires the individual to have a full and current UK driving license. The nature of the work will require nationwide travel and occasional overnight stays (as required). On occasion and as the need arises - available to work varying shift patterns (day & night).
What you’ll be doing:
- Business partner to the Depot Ops Directors North / South and the Facilities, Maintenance & Engineering Director.
- Strategy Development - Working in partnership with the UK and Group InPost Operational teams you will be responsible for gathering inputs to design and develop the 5 and 10 year – Depot network strategy.
- Enabling the Senior Leadership & Board Sponsors to identify future design opportunities and guide decision making in this critical area.
- Producing the Automation and Network Growth Strategy, a multi-year programme impacting all elements of the UK operation with inputs from a cross section of senior stakeholders.
- Programme Management - As a senior member of the UK operations team you will translate the strategic plan into a Depot operating model.
- Ensuring the plan is communicated both to frontline staff, suppliers and support functions.
- Change Load - Defining this into a detailed change load plan for the UK team to implement, managing and prioritising this on behalf of the Facilities, Maintenance and Engineering Director, Depot Ops Directors and Group Network Design team.
- Operational Governance – Working with the Network Improvement team to standardise governance across the operations functions – driving visibility, progress and timely decision making across all major change initiatives.
- Encapsulating reporting and progress management - associated dependency and risk/issue modelling.
- Change Lead - Leading on other major change in these functional areas - such as warehouse design, asset design and product/service developments.
- Financial & Cost Optimization - Manage the initiative budgets, track monthly spend vs. budget, and identify opportunities for cost-saving initiatives.
- Compliance - Ensure 3PL partners follow safety, environmental, and industry-specific regulations.

- Proven record of managing change in an operational environment, (ideally) at Depot senior management level.
- Skilled at leading cross functional experts to deliver plans and change to time, cost and quality KPIs.
- Proven ability to negotiate effectively, address objections, and support the identification both of quick wins and broader strategic opportunities.
- An analytical and data-oriented approach to planning, ensuring decisions are data/fact based.
- Agile and responsive. Can juggle and prioritize tasks, manage multiple opportunities simultaneously, navigate ambiguity, and execute the delivery of our Ops goals.
- Highly proficient in CAD, BI, Excel, Word & PowerPoint.
- Previous background in Logistics & Network major change.
- Risk management and proactive problem-solving.
