About the role:

InPost is actively seeking a highly dedicated and experienced Transport Shift Manager to take full ownership of our transport operations during your assigned shift. In this critical role, you will be responsible for ensuring the seamless, safe, and highly efficient delivery of our services, directly impacting the quality and reliability that InPost is known for. As a pivotal leader within our expansive logistics network, you will oversee and motivate a diverse team of transport professionals, driving operational excellence while consistently meeting and exceeding performance targets. Your leadership will be central to upholding InPost’s unwavering commitment to innovation, customer satisfaction, and continuous improvement across every aspect of our transport operations. Location: Inpost Distribution Unit 2, Siskin Parkway West, Coventry, CV3 4PW

Shift Pattern: MONDAY-FRIDAY

Hours: 14.30pm - 23.30pm

Salary: £42000 p/a

What you’ll be doing:

  • Take full ownership of ensuring that all drivers promptly report and accurately record vehicle defects, maintaining the highest standards of safety, reliability, and vehicle maintenance across the InPost fleet.
  • Monitor and enforce strict compliance with drivers’ hours regulations using the industry leading Microlise transport management system.
  • Collaborate closely with internal and external stakeholders including operations, customer service, and maintenance teams to drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Oversee and support the comprehensive management of InPost’s end to end transport requirements.
  • Act as the central point of contact and strong leadership presence for the transport team during your shift.
  • Take an active role in monitoring and achieving KPI targets, providing data driven insights and championing change initiatives that improve operational performance and customer satisfaction.
  • Deliver critical 24 hour incident support during operational disruptions or system failures.
  • Lead proactive health and safety management within your team, prioritising employee wellbeing and ensuring full compliance with all InPost policies, industry regulations, and legal requirements.
  • Manage and maintain the transport fleet with meticulous attention to detail, ensuring that all vehicle operations are compliant with legal standards and industry best practices.
  • Continuously monitor and review forthcoming legislation, regulatory changes, and industry standards, ensuring that InPost’s transport operations remain fully compliant.

What we need from you:

  • Proven experience in transport management or logistics, ideally within a fast paced, dynamic environment.
  • CPC holder (desirable but not essential).
  • Strong expertise in drivers’ hours regulations, vehicle defect reporting, and health & safety compliance.
  • Proficiency with transport management systems, particularly Microlise, is highly desirable.
  • Excellent leadership skills with the ability to motivate, manage, and develop a diverse transport team.
  • Exceptional communication skills and a collaborative approach to working with multiple stakeholders.
  • Quick thinker and problem solver, able to handle high pressure situations with calm and efficiency.
  • A passion for continuous improvement and a commitment to delivering best in class transport operations.
  • Must have the legal right to work in the UK.
