We are delighted to announce that we have acquired Yodel, one of the UK’s largest delivery companies. The acquisition builds on the partnership established between InPost and Yodel in 2024, when Yodel began providing last-mile delivery through InPost’s “locker-to-door” service.
Today we become truly unique as the only delivery partner with aone-stop shop offer – we have the largest out of home delivery network that is now combined with to-door capabilities. Going forward, the acquisition of Yodel brings immediate scale to InPost\’s operations, expands our service offering, and provides greater convenience to retailers and customers.
About the role:
At InPost, our Sort Operations are the pulse of our parcel journey — where every package is received, sorted with precision, and dispatched via our dedicated transport fleet to Service Centres across the network. This is where speed meets smart logistics, ensuring every delivery is one step closer to our customers.
As Operations Manager of this key Yodel Hub, you’ll take full ownership of the evening/night sort operation. This is a mission-critical role, placing you at the frontline of service excellence during our most dynamic hours.
You’ll lead the charge on:
Performance & Precision – Ensuring every parcel is sorted efficiently and delivered on time, with full accountability for service performance.
People & Planning – Executing site-level staffing plans and managing costs, keeping operations running smoothly and sustainably.
Control & Confidence – Taking total responsibility for the sort function during peak hours, making real-time decisions that drive results.
Step into a role where your leadership keeps the network moving — fast, smart, and always one step ahead.
What you’ll be doing:
Own the Sort. Lead the Shift. Drive Performance.
As the Sort Operations Manager, you’ll take full control of sort performance — hour by hour, shift by shift — ensuring every parcel moves smoothly and every plan is executed to perfection.
In this role, you will:
Deliver the Plan – Lead all inbound and outbound sort activity, hitting service targets and reacting fast when things shift.
Lead the Team – Manage, support, and develop the sort team, handling resourcing, performance, and ER issues with confidence.
Own the Operation – Drive KPI achievement, maintain high standards, and ensure H&S compliance every step of the way.
Collaborate to Win – Work with planning, transport, and other sort sites to share best practice and improve performance.
Drive Improvement – Challenge the status quo, optimise capacity, and get involved in projects that shape our future.
Build Partnerships – Manage supplier, stakeholder, and trade union relationships to keep things moving smoothly.
What we need from you:
We’re looking for people who are ready for a fast paced environment, get their kicks out of problem solving and can balance getting today\’s stuff done, whilst building for the future. We’re looking for people with drive and natural curiosity – who want to do things differently. And do them brilliantly.
Essential experience:
- Extensive knowledge of production planning and similar operations and management
- Extensive knowledge of Health and Safety – IOSH qualification required
- Budget Management – cost control whilst the site is operational – and seeking out opportunities.
- Green Belt Six Sigma (Desirable) – experience with flow in an automated environment & production plans.
- Experienced People Manager – managing managers & experience in managing people plans.
We’d be particularly excited to hear from you if you have:
- Experience of working with excel and producing detailed plans
- Experience of working with Yard Management Systems
- Experience of working within a unionised environment
The InPost process:
We pride ourselves on our candidate experience. We want to make this as straightforward as possible, for you and for us! We will try our best to get back to you within a few days to let you know if we’d like to take you to the first stage. This normally involves a 20 minute chat with our Talent Team. If we both feel the connection, you’ll then go through another one or two stages, depending on the level of the role.
At InPost, we love uniqueness. Our strength is our people.
We strive to create an open, equal, inclusive environment in which everyone has the opportunity to flourish and be themselves.
