If so, read on, as we’re looking for a Packer/Driver to join our Ryde team! The InPost NewsTrade division specialises in final-mile delivery for newspaper publishers and magazine distributors, covering 75% of the UK and Ireland with a 45% market share. Operating from 36 locations, it delivers almost 1bn newspapers, magazines, and collectibles to around 21,000 customers.
As a Newspaper and Magazine Distribution Assistant, you will be responsible for preparing, sorting, and packing newspapers, magazines, and periodicals to meet customer orders accurately and efficiently. You will play an important role in ensuring publications are ready for dispatch and delivered on time. Where driving is required, you will transport newspapers and magazines to designated customer locations, ensuring deliveries are completed within agreed timescales. The role requires excellent attention to detail, reliability, and a commitment to providing a high standard of service while following company procedures and health and safety guidelines.

Shift Pattern: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday & Saturday
Hours: 03:30am - 09:30am
Salary: £13.74 per hour
What you’ll be doing:
- Preparing, sorting, and packing newspapers, magazines, and periodicals according to customer orders and packing instructions.
- Assembling customer supplies accurately and securely strapping parcels where required.
- Loading packed items into allocated tote boxes, delivery cages, and distribution areas ready for dispatch.
- Maintaining a clean, safe, and organised working environment, ensuring packing stations and equipment are kept in excellent condition.
- Communicating effectively with supervisors, managers, and colleagues to ensure smooth day‑to‑day operations.
- Delivering publications to customers when required, providing a professional, courteous, and reliable service at all times.
- Completing delivery documentation accurately and ensuring deliveries are made within agreed timescales.
- Carrying out daily vehicle checks, reporting defects, and helping to keep company vehicles clean and roadworthy.
- Supporting the returns process by unloading vehicles, moving cages, and scanning returned items using warehouse systems and equipment.
- Operating machinery and equipment safely, including strapping and scanning equipment, while following company procedures and health and safety guidelines.
- Adhering to all relevant driving regulations, company policies, and PPE requirements.
- Assisting with additional operational tasks and supporting team members to meet business needs.
- Handling physical duties such as standing, walking, lifting bundles and tote boxes (up to 17kg), and working in a fast‑paced distribution environment.

- A full, clean UK driving licence if driving duties form part of the role.
- A proactive approach, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
