About the Role

Inplace Personnel Services Ltd is recruiting reliable and hardworking Warehouse Operatives to support operations within the Statutory Examination Area at the Port of Felixstowe.

Successful candidates will work across a range of secure examination facilities where imported cargo is presented for inspection by UK Government and statutory agencies.

This is a physically demanding role involving warehouse operations, container unloading and loading and cargo handling in a fast-paced port environment.

Due to the nature of the work, hours can vary depending on operational requirements and as such, flexibility is essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Handballing cargo by manually unloading and reloading shipping containers.
  • Reloading cargo into the original container following inspections.
  • Operating MHE equipment - training will be provided.
  • Complete a site competency assessment before operating Port equipment.
  • Moving cargo safely around warehouse facilities.
  • Working across multiple examination facilities including temperature controlled areas (i. e. refrigerated/frozen containers)

* Assisting with warehouse housekeeping duties including

  • Floor scrubbing
  • Pallet washing
  • Maintaining clean and tidy work areas
  • Working within food-grade, refrigerated and clean handling environments while following strict hygiene procedures.
  • Following all health and safety, security and operational procedures within the Port.

Work volumes vary depending on shipping schedules and inspection requirements.

Some days involve light workloads, while others require intensive manual handling of full container loads.

Working Environment

This role involves working in a busy operational port environment where duties may take place:

  • Inside warehouse facilities.
  • Outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Within refrigerated and temperature-controlled areas.
  • Within food handling areas where strict cleanliness standards apply.

As the work supports Government inspections, professionalism, discretion and attention to detail are essential.

  • Working Hours
  • Operations run 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
  • Shift lengths typically range between 6 and 12 hours and may be extended or shortened depending on operational requirements, however, are typically 6-6.
  • Weekend and Bank Holiday working will be required.

Essential Requirements

  • Good level of physical fitness and ability to undertake repetitive manual handling.
  • Reliable and punctual.
  • Flexible approach to working hours and ability to work short-notice shift availability.
  • Ability to follow health and safety procedures.
  • Working as part of a team in a fast-moving environment.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Willingness to work days, nights, weekends and Bank Holidays.
