About Us

At INEOS Electrochemical Solutions, we research, develop, manufacture and sell world-class electrolysers and electrode coatings that produce green hydrogen or chlor-alkali derivatives such as chlorine and caustic soda.

Role Overview

The Process/Refurbishment Technician is responsible for carrying out a wide range of refurbishment activities, including:

  • Assessing the extent of damage and determining appropriate repair methods within defined standards
  • Performing precision welding of titanium and nickel components, returning products to an “as new” condition
  • Supporting continuous improvement of refurbishment standards and techniques

The products handled are high-value catalytic-coated anodes and cathode structures used in high-hazard chemical processes. The role has a direct impact on the safety and quality of our product, which has a global customer base. This is a day-based role within a 24/7 operational environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strict adherence to SHE policies, standards and procedures
  • Detailed inspection and evaluation of products to define repair scope
  • Preparation of components for welding, including recovery and preparation of replacement parts
  • Completion of fine, intricate welding activities (often working with sections as small as 1mm² cross-section)
  • Maintaining accurate records to support refurbishment costing and customer invoicing
  • Contributing to the development of new refurbishment techniques and standards

Additional Duties

The role may also include supporting other process operations within the Electrochemical Technology Business, such as:

  • Operation of electrostatic spray and bake coating lines
  • Running hydride stripping processes
  • Supporting activities including grit blasting, etching, assembly/disassembly, and quality control

From time to time, the job holder may be required to work across other site facilities at the Runcorn location.

Skills and Attributes

  • Strong commitment to safety and quality standards
  • Experience or capability in precision TIG welding (titanium/nickel desirable) such as pressure vessels.
  • Able to carry out Non-Destructive Testing of repairs such as die penetrant testing and inspection.
  • Able to work to defined quality and engineering standards and use sound judgement in assessment of repairs required.
  • Able to operate powered hand tools, powered cranes and automated machinery.
  • FLT licence or capable of being trained to operate FLT
  • High level of manual dexterity and attention to detail
  • Flexible and collaborative approach to working across multiple processes

This role is subject to pre-employment medical assessment and ongoing occupational health surveillance. The working environment includes exposure to respiratory irritants and materials that require specific health monitoring. Candidates must be able to meet the occupational health standards necessary to undertake the role safely, with or without reasonable adjustments where appropriate. Appointment is subject to satisfactory occupational health clearance.
