A leading global aerospace engineering organisation is seeking a Surface Technology Specialist to join its Materials, Processes & Test function. You will play a key role in protecting aircraft structures by developing and supporting surface technologies such as paints, coatings, sealants, and surface treatments. Your work will directly contribute to corrosion prevention, sustainability improvements, and performance optimisation across multiple aircraft programmes. This is a hands-on engineering role, combining development, testing, and operational support within an international, collaborative environment.
Responsibilities
- Develop and deploy materials, processes, and testing technologies for aircraft design and manufacture.
- Provide corrosion protection and sealing concepts to support aircraft build and operation.
- Support improvement projects focused on performance, cost, and time reduction.
- Ensure compliance with Environment, Health & Safety regulations using eco-efficient materials and processes.
- Adapt existing corrosion protection approaches to chromate-free solutions.
- Support aircraft programmes with corrosion analysis and modern protection principles.
Qualifications / Required Experience
- Practical experience in corrosion protection and surface technology.
- Knowledge of metallic and composite aerospace materials.
- Experience with surface treatments, coatings, sealants, and material testing (e.g., salt spray / corrosion testing / paint coatings).
- Background in aerospace, automotive, or similar high-reliability manufacturing environments.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating with international teams.
- Strong communication skills and professional-level English.
- Qualifications are flexible - experience is prioritised over formal education.
