About The Team
The Position, Navigation & Timing (PNT) Programme sits within the Space Delivery Team and reports to a PI Programme Manager and PI Engineering Manager, who act as the relevant task managers. The team reports into an SP Team Leader. The programme is responsible for delivering multiple PNT projects for CSOC, while also providing subject matter expertise, advice, and guidance across Defence on PNT best practice. The team additionally supports a number of Op Scorpius activities.
The Role
As an Electronic Systems & Sensors Engineer, you will play a key role in delivering electronic and mechatronic systems within the PNT domain. You will take ownership of technical requirements, support system design activities, and ensure effective verification and validation of delivered solutions, while considering through-life support and cost.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the generation and management of Electronic Systems & Sensors (ESS) requirements and technical deliverables
- Define and maintain system documentation, including consideration of in-service support and associated costs
- Identify and analyse technical hazards and project impacts, contributing to risk reduction strategies
- Manage the design of systems, components, or processes to meet customer requirements within time, cost, and performance constraints
- Lead and manage ESS testing, verification, validation, and evaluation activities
Essential Skills & Experience
- A Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) qualification at RQF Level 4 or above
- Broad and in-depth experience delivering successful electronic or mechatronic engineering outcomes
- Proven ability to provide technical advice and lead engineering delivery
- Professional registration with a relevant institution as one of the following: Incorporated Engineer (IEng), Registered Scientist (RSci), Registered Marine Technologist (RMarTech), Advanced Registered IT Technician (Adv RITTech), Chartered Physicist (CPhys)
Desirable Skills & Experience
- Experience providing technical advice and delivery within Position, Navigation & Timing (PNT) technologies and/or Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS)
Additional Information
- Office attendance at MOD Abbey Wood is expected 2-3 days per week
- Some off-site travel may be required
