Terms of Reference for iNovaland Impact Officer
iNovaland® is seeking a suitable person to support carbon certification validation and verification processes related to the Atebubu‑Wiase Forest Landscape Restoration project. The applicant will join an existing team delivering a landscape restoration project and will be responsible for leading the revision of the Project Design Document (PDD) and all auditing processes in close collaboration with field teams and auditors.
The project involves restoration of degraded lands through the planting of indigenous trees, dedicated agroforestry interventions, and regenerative agriculture. It seeks to balance competing land‑use demands for the benefit of human well‑being and the environment while advancing climate and development goals. The role supports engagement with Atebubu, Wiase and Dwan communities, African Plantations for Sustainable Development, iNovaland and the Nature and Development Foundation.
Initial 12‑month contract, scope for renewal and extension following successful completion of the first year. Potential for engagement with iNovaland’s projects in Brazil.
Reporting Line
Report to the iNovaland® management team on technical and financial issues.
Location
Remote with availability for international travel. Preference for individuals based in UK time zones +/- 2 hours.
Responsibilities
- Provide requested clarifications from VVB after validation audit and close the project.
- Prepare Verra VCS and CCB verification audit and support the auditor’s work.
- Follow‑up with VVB after the audit to provide all requested clarifications.
- Support all activities related to the project certification process until the first verified carbon unit’s issuance.
Applicant will work remotely and is expected to allocate 2/3 of their time to iNovaland®.
Required Skills and Experience
Experience:
- Knowledge and experience in the implementation of landscape restoration projects.
- At least two to five years of experience in a similar role.
- Experience in project implementation involving carbon modelling and monitoring.
- Experience working with an international team.
- Experience in auditing is an advantage.
Education:
- A minimum of a first degree in forestry, natural resource management or other related disciplines.
- A master’s degree or a PhD in the above disciplines or related is an added advantage.
Skills and competencies:
- Must have strong communication skills in English.
- Capacity to lead the writing and revision of large documents.
- Motivated and talented in project implementation and reporting with little external support.
- A good level of self‑motivation, enthusiasm, love for rural and community development.
- Track‑record of working effectively with multiple project partners.
- Computer proficiency is a requirement.
- GIS capabilities is an advantage.
Language:
- Fluency in written and spoken English.
