Role Overview: The Senior Project Manager is responsible for managing project timelines, budgets, and resources to ensure projects are completed safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. The Senior Project Manager coordinates with clients, architects, engineers, and construction teams to ensure everyone is working towards the same goals. The Senior Project Manager is responsible for ensuring that the works meet the required quality standards, all quality-related risks are identified and managed effectively, and non-conformances or defects are closed prior to handover of works and practical completion, including monitoring Planned vs Actual inspection and test regimes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Reporting directly to the Project Director.
  • Develop and manage stringent Health & Safety Rules and Regulations on site.
  • Provide clear leadership and set a positive example in relation to Health, Safety & Welfare.
  • Ensure with the project team that Method Statements and Risk assessments are carried out for all tasks and ensure the necessary risk controls and safe systems of work are implemented, monitored and reviewed.
  • Brief and instruct the Project Team of their roles and responsibilities.
  • Ensure that managers and other personnel within their area of responsibility are competent and adequately trained and instructed in relation to their duties in order that these duties can be performed safely.
  • Investigate all incidents, dangerous occurrences and injury events and compile written reports as soon as possible after the incident.
  • Produce and manage a specific Plan for construction sites along with associated workplace specific hazard identification and risk assessments throughout the tenure of the project.
  • Carry out and document all necessary inductions.
  • Ensure appropriate safety equipment including PPE is available to all Employees and site visitors.
  • Ensure First Aiders are trained, and correct cover is provided throughout.
  • Maintain all plant and equipment in a safe condition and ensure it is used correctly within the manufacturers’ guidelines.
  • Provide and maintain all necessary welfare facilities.
  • Develop and maintain the Project Execution Plan for the project(s).
  • Monitor the Project Team in their general performance of their duties.
  • Monitor the distribution of information between the Project Team and third parties.
  • Establish risk and opportunity management procedures and exercises including an early warning system which identifies potential risks or changes.
  • Manage all project scope and risk through supply chain appointments.
  • Assist in negotiating contracts with Subcontractors as necessary.
  • Review and become fully conversant with all legal contracts on the Project(s).
  • Develop value engineering solutions.
  • Manage the day-to-day activities of the various contractors and vendors in the delivery of projects.
  • Implement project controls and quality assurance processes.
  • Lead project planning and strategy development with the project team and stakeholders.
  • Implement a comprehensive inspection and testing regime.
  • Provide leadership and mentoring to project team members, including engineers, architects, and contractors.
  • Manage the implementation of the Sectional / Practical Completion handover deliverables and inspection events.
  • Resolve project issues and conflicts in a timely and effective manner.
  • Develop and maintain project documentation, including schedules, budgets, change orders, and progress reports.
  • Help in the development and reporting on project programme.
  • Manage and ensure that resources are available to execute the works in compliance with the company objectives, strategy and action plans.
  • Collaborate with other project managers and stakeholders to identify and implement best practices and continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Manage the timely closure of non-conformances or defects and direct lessons learnt.
  • Define and manage the implementation of protocols and resources for the Defects Liability Period.
  • Define and manage the Client Walkdown Inspection and Sign-off.
  • Liaise with clients where applicable and manage both their needs and expectations.
  • Ensure adherence of Project Delivery / Management Standards by all project participants on all projects.

Skills and Experience Required:

  • A bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Engineering or a related discipline.
  • 6+ years of project management experience in large-scale projects across Ireland, UK, and Europe.
  • Clear knowledge and understanding of In-situ concrete, civil and structural engineering works and management of same at site level.
  • Clear knowledge and understanding of programming and programming software.
  • Ability to complete clear written reports for internal and external use.
  • Understanding of MEP systems, from design to execution.
  • Proven ability to manage complex procurement processes and drive cost-effective solutions.
  • Excellent oral and written communication and leadership skills, with the ability to influence and engage teams at all levels.
  • A deep understanding of safety regulations and industry best practices.
