In this role you’ll be the key support to one of our animal units, ensuring technicians have everything they need and the unit operates smoothly. You’ll mainly operate decontamination equipment to clean and sterilise goods, receive, process and distribute goods within the unit, restock stores and carry out regular stock takes to maintain supplies. Additionally, you’ll perform daily facility housekeeping, sanitising all floors, surfaces and working areas.

  • Receive, process, distribute and store goods, including carrying out regular stock takes.
  • Perform daily facility housekeeping, sanitising floors, surfaces and working areas.
  • Support the unit with general tasks, including waste management and PPE use.
  • Maintain accurate records and follow procedures.

Qualifications

  • Experience operating machines/machinery and cleaning/sanitising.
  • Physical ability to lift, load, unload and perform waste management tasks.
  • Proactive, reliable and a strong team player.
  • Good attention to detail and ability to follow procedures.
  • Good spoken and written English; able to understand instructions.
  • Compassionate and humane approach to animals.
  • Ability to drive and access own vehicle.
  • Not a pet rodent owner (mice, rats, guinea pigs, rabbits, or animals that feed on rodents such as snakes or birds).
  • Experience or willingness to work with PPE (hairnet, face covering, gloves, tyvek suit, etc.).

Location and Benefits

  • Contract type: Fixed‑term for 18 months, with the opportunity to turn permanent.
  • Working hours: Full‑time 07:00‑16:15, Monday to Friday.
  • Location: Belton, near Loughborough (rural area, no public transport).
  • Starting salary of £26,501.
  • 33 days holiday (including 8 public holidays).
