Overview
Hours: 35 hours per week Monday to Friday
Salary: £28,000 per annum plus car allowance
The Play Area Inspector is responsible for ensuring that all play areas, equipment, and surrounding environments are safe, clean, and compliant with safety standards. This role involves conducting regular inspections, identifying hazards, documenting findings, and ensuring corrective actions are taken to prevent injuries and maintain a safe, enjoyable environment for children and visitors.
Main Responsibilities
- Conduct routine and scheduled inspections of all play equipment, surfaces, and structures
- Identify safety hazards such as broken equipment, sharp edges, loose parts, or unsafe surfaces
- Ensure all play areas comply with local safety regulations, manufacturer guidelines, and company policies
- Record inspection results, maintenance needs, and corrective actions in inspection logs
- Report urgent safety issues and ensure affected equipment is taken out of service when required
- Follow up on repairs and verify that corrective actions are completed properly
- Monitor cleanliness and hygiene of play areas
- Support accident investigations and provide reports when incidents occur
- Assist with risk assessments and safety audits
- Provide safety recommendations to management
- Educate staff on basic play area safety and hazard reporting
- Travel around a region and visit multiple developments
Health and Safety
- To maintain full compliance with the company Health and Safety Policy.
- Follow company procedure and guidelines for Health and Safety in relation to compliance
- Ensure safe working environment and site safety at all times
- Report any breaches of H&S to Line Management
- Report all accidents and near misses to Line Management
Other Duties
- Ensure all correct P.P.E is used at all times and due regard is given at all times to Health and Safety matters
- Ensure all signage is displayed where clearly visible
- To carry out any other reasonable tasks that your manager may request
Qualifications / Experience
- Certification in playground or play equipment inspection (preferred or willing to obtain)
- Knowledge of child safety standards and playground regulations (preferred or willing to obtain)
- Basic understanding of mechanical and structural safety
- Ability to write clear inspection and incident reports
- Strong attention to detail
- Good observation and problem-solving skills
- Ability to identify risks and hazards quickly
- Good communication and reporting skills
- Ability to work independently and follow procedures
- Physical ability to walk, bend, kneel, and inspect equipment
- Willingness to travel around a region to attend multiple destinations
