Innovation Consultant – Graduate Engineer
About Innovia
Innovia Technology has an exciting opportunity for a graduate with a background in engineering, to work on varied and creative innovation challenges and help us deliver actionable innovation breakthroughs for our global clients.
We solve complex innovation challenges and create new opportunities so our clients can outperform competitors and change the world for good. You’ll join our holistic project teams to collaborate and work on the most demanding of challenges.
Our clients include Johnson & Johnson, Medtronic, LEGO, PepsiCo, Procter & Gamble, Haleon, Shell, IWC Schaffhausen, Kenvue, Kraft Heinz, and The North Face. Clients work with Innovia Technology because our work leads to products and services that customers prefer – reaching markets faster and more efficiently than any realistic alternative.
What you’ll get
At Innovia you won’t join an isolated engineering department; instead you’ll represent your field by joining collaborative project teams composed of experts in other disciplines – from veterinary medicine to theoretical physics, plant science, industrial design, chemical biology, business strategy, psychology, and more.
You’ll begin by leveraging your skills and knowledge in product development and design for manufacture and prototyping to help us expand our capacity to undertake front‑end product development activities, and to bring crucial pragmatism to early‑stage innovation projects.
You’ll solve complex technical problems within industries from food and drink to energy, cosmetics, manufacturing, consumer goods, health or medicines.
Key Responsibilities
- Bring your technical skills and creativity to innovation challenges
- Collaborate closely with colleagues from different fields to solve broad and complex problems
- Conduct desk‑based research (e.g., literature reviews) and primary research (qualitative and quantitative)
- Create new ideas, insights, and models, and transfer this thinking between different applications and industries
- Challenge conventional thinking and industry‑specific assumptions
- Help structure and create presentations for colleagues and clients
What We’re Looking For
- Hold an engineering Master’s degree with a mechanical, manufacturing, or design engineering focus
- Good understanding of fundamental mechanical engineering principles (statics, dynamics, materials, thermofluid mechanics, engineering mathematics) and ability to apply them to unfamiliar problems
- Proficient in Python
- Comfortable working in a dynamic commercial and client‑focused environment
- Strong interest in collaborative teamwork and good communication skills
- Comfortable giving considered opinion on complex questions and participating in lively discussions
- Excellent time‑keeping and task‑management skills, to be able to take responsibility for your own work and time
- Interest in applying creativity across a wide range of industries, and ability to quickly learn about new areas
- Demonstrated commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive, collaborative working and learning environment

Hours: Full‑time, 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
Role type: Permanent

Visa sponsorship: Innovia Technology cannot sponsor visa for this role as it will not meet the Home Office’s eligibility criteria.
Confidentiality: Our clients trust us to work on their most complex and challenging projects. As a Innovation Consultant, you’ll be working directly on commercially sensitive projects. You will need to maintain confidentiality at all times. This means you won’t be able to share detailed information about your work in articles, social media, or public talks unless this is discussed and agreed with Innovia Technology.
