Innovia Technology has an exciting opportunity for an undergraduate or graduate student with a background in Product/Industrial Design to join our team for a 12 months paid internship to apply their skills to innovation consultancy and work on varied and creative projects at our Cambridge UK offices.

We\βll offer you training to make it easier to bridge the gap between studying and working as a Design intern.
Key Activities
As an Intern, you will spend most of your time providing a design perspective on innovation challenges. You\βll typically work on 2-3 projects at once, and the nature of these projects can be remarkably varied, but here is a list of key activities you will likely be performing:
β Applying the design process and your creativity to a wide range of innovation challenges.
β Working in truly multi-disciplinary teams to solve broad and complex problems.
β Identifying insights and translating them into desirable, feasible and viable ideas.
β Structuring inspiring narratives to communicate ideas and inform client teams.
β Bringing ideas to life through CAD, prototyping, renders, Vizcom, Photoshop and Illustrator.
β Supporting sales and marketing activities.
What We\βre Looking For
It is important that you:
β Must have completed the second year of your undergraduate degree (Graduates considered).
β Have strong design skills and are able to apply the design process to a wide range of problems.
β Are keen to work in a professional, dynamic office and client focussed environment.
β Have a strong interest in collaborative teamwork and have good communication skills.
β Are a fast learner, who is keen to jump into the deep-end of projects.
β Excellent time mangament, able to take responsibility for your own workload and deadlines.
β Excel in the Adobe suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign). Experience in other relevant design programmes, Vizcom, Solidworks, Keyshot, Figma, Premier Pro, etc is a bonus.

Important Practical Considerations
Office attendance: Our internship is a full-time role undertaken in-person at our Cambridge, UK offices.
Remote working: Unfortunately, this internship opportunity is not suitable for applicants who wish to work remotely.
Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
Tech: We use Macbook laptops and this will be provided for you on your first day.

Confidentiality: Our clients trust us to work on their most complex and challenging projects. As a Design Intern, you\βll be working directly on commercially sensitive projects. You will need to maintain confidentiality both during and after your internship. This means you won\βt be able to share detailed information about your work in university reports, articles, presentations, or public talks. If your academic program requires you to document or present your internship experience in detail, please consider this carefully before applying. We will help you summarise your work for your CV and interviews, in ways that work for you, our business, and our clients.

Interview Process
At interview, we focus on testing your design process and creativity in a real-world situation. Our interview process is designed to allow you to demonstrate your skills and abilities so that we can see your creative thinking in action.
Stage 1: 30-minute interview via Zoom, focused on getting to know you and your goals a bit better.
Stage 2: If you are selected to progress to the next stage, you\βll be invited to a final interview, which will be held via Zoom and in total may take up to 2.5 hours. There will be 3 parts to this interview:
1. Some time to talk through your portfolio, the role, and Innovia with two members of our design team.
2. A 1 hour independent design task that reflects the type of work we do at Innovia.
3. Some time to present back the results of your task, and for extra discussion with our designers.
