Residential Support Worker & Senior Residential Support Worker – Children’s Home

Innovex Resource Group is currently recruiting experienced Residential Support Workers and Senior Residential Support Workers for a children’s residential setting in Oldham.

We are looking for candidates who already have hands-on experience working with children and young people within residential children’s homes or similar children’s care settings.

The successful candidates will support children and young people who may have emotional, behavioural, social or complex needs, helping to provide a safe, structured and nurturing home environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide high-quality, child-centred support to children and young people.
• Build positive, trusting and professional relationships with young people.
• Support children with daily routines, education, appointments, activities and independent living skills.
• Provide emotional support and reassurance during difficult or challenging situations.
• Support young people who may display challenging behaviour using appropriate de-escalation techniques.
• Follow individual care plans, risk assessments and behaviour support plans.
• Complete accurate daily records, incident reports and safeguarding documentation.
• Promote independence, confidence, positive choices and personal development.
• Support children with community activities, hobbies and social opportunities.
• Maintain professional boundaries and promote a safe and consistent residential environment.
• Follow safeguarding procedures and report concerns immediately.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues, social workers, families, education providers and other professionals.

Additional Responsibilities – Senior Support Worker

Senior Residential Support Workers will also be expected to:

• Lead shifts and support the effective running of the home.
• Allocate duties and provide guidance to Residential Support Workers.
• Mentor and support less experienced team members.
• Ensure care plans, risk assessments and daily records are completed to a high standard.
• Support incident management and appropriate safeguarding escalation.
• Participate in handovers, team meetings and reviews.
• Help maintain compliance with Children’s Homes Regulations and Ofsted standards.
• Promote consistency and high standards of care across the staff team.

Essential Requirements

• Previous experience working in a children’s residential setting is required.
• Experience supporting children or young people with emotional, behavioural or complex needs.
• Strong understanding of safeguarding and professional boundaries.
• Ability to manage challenging situations calmly and professionally.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to complete accurate care documentation.
• Ability to work as part of a rota, including weekends and other required shifts.
• Right to work in the UK.

For Senior Residential Support Worker applicants, previous senior, shift-leading or mentoring experience within a children’s residential setting is highly desirable.

A Level 3 qualification in Residential Childcare / Children and Young People would be advantageous, particularly for Senior Support Worker applicants.
