Job Description
We are currently recruiting for both Support Workers and Senior Support Workers to join a residential children’s care setting in Oldbury on a full-time, permanent basis.
We are looking for caring, reliable and experienced individuals who are passionate about supporting children and young people and helping them achieve positive outcomes in a safe, nurturing and supportive environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality care and support to children and young people within a residential setting.
- Support young people with daily routines, education, appointments, activities and developing independence.
- Build positive and professional relationships based on trust, consistency and respect.
- Support children and young people with emotional, behavioural and complex needs.
- Follow individual care plans, risk assessments, safeguarding procedures and behaviour support strategies.
- Promote independence, confidence, life skills and positive outcomes.
- Maintain accurate records, daily notes, incident reports and handovers.
- Work effectively with colleagues, managers, families and external professionals.
- Participate in shift work, including evenings, weekends and sleep-ins where required.
Additional Responsibilities for Senior Support Workers
Senior Support Workers will also be expected to:
- Provide leadership and guidance to Support Workers during shifts.
- Lead shifts and ensure the smooth day-to-day running of the service.
- Support and supervise staff while maintaining high standards of care.
- Assist with care planning, risk assessments and safeguarding procedures.
- Respond appropriately to incidents and challenging situations.
- Ensure accurate documentation and effective staff handovers.
- Support management in maintaining regulatory and organisational standards.
Requirements
- Previous experience working with children and young people is essential.
- Experience within children’s residential care is highly desirable.
- Good understanding of safeguarding, professional boundaries and person-centred care.
- Ability to support children with emotional and behavioural needs.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Flexible and reliable approach to shift work.
- Enhanced DBS or willingness to undergo a DBS check.
- Right to work in the UK.
For the Senior Support Worker position, applicants should ideally have previous senior, team-leading or supervisory experience within a children’s residential setting and hold, or be working towards, a relevant Level 3 qualification in Residential Childcare / Children and Young People.
