Our client, a global leader embarking on an ambitious multi-year transformation programme, is seeking a Principal Dynamics 365 CE Architect to own the architecture of their strategic, global CRM solution. This is a rare greenfield opportunity: building on a newly established Dynamics 365 Customer Service platform, you'll hold end-to-end accountability for the technical design of the CRM as it scales into the enterprise-wide system of engagement. You'll set the technical direction, own the key design decisions, and lead a high-performing D365 development team within an Agile, product-based delivery model, all while staying genuinely hands-on with Dynamics 365 CE and the Power Platform.

The role:

  • Own the D365 CE architecture end-to-end β€” from vision through to delivered design, defining the target architecture, design principles and standards that govern how the CRM is built and extended.
  • Act as design authority for the platform, making key design decisions and reviewing/approving solution designs to protect architectural integrity.
  • Stay hands-on in D365 CE and Power Platform β€” prototyping and proving out designs, not just drawing diagrams.
  • Make deliberate low-code vs pro-code decisions β€” Power Apps, Power Automate and Business Process Flows where configuration wins; plugins, custom APIs, JavaScript and Azure services where code is the right answer.
  • Design robust integrations between Dynamics 365 CE and the wider enterprise estate (Azure, SAP, Microsoft 365, third-party SaaS), selecting the right patterns across Azure Integration Services, Logic Apps, APIs and Dataverse.
  • Design for non-functionals β€” resiliency, scalability, performance, availability, disaster recovery, and security/governance by design.
  • Lead and mentor the CRM development team β€” setting technical standards, running design and code reviews, and growing the team's architectural thinking.
  • Shape the roadmap β€” assessing new Dynamics 365 and Power Platform releases and translating them into architectural direction alongside the Product Owner.

What you'll bring:

  • Deep, demonstrable experience architecting Dynamics 365 CE at enterprise/global scale, ideally including Customer Service.
  • Strong Power Platform expertise (Power Apps, Power Automate, Dataverse) with sound judgement on low-code vs coded solutions.
  • Hands-on background building plugins, custom workflows, JavaScript and cloud flows β€” credible, hands-on design leadership.
  • Strong integration architecture experience across Azure (Logic Apps, Azure Integration Services, APIs); SAP integration an advantage.
  • Proven experience designing for resiliency, scalability, performance and DR.
  • ALM/CI-CD and source control experience (Azure DevOps, Git) β€” this is a properly governed environment, no manual deployments.
  • In-depth understanding of security, access controls and governance for cloud and CRM environments.
  • Experience in an Agile, product-based delivery model, supporting a Product Owner and roadmap.
  • Proven track record managing, mentoring and leading D365 developers and setting the technical quality bar.
  • Experience in regulated environments a bonus.
