Role: Principal Design Assurance Engineer

Location: Bristol (Hybrid)

Type: Full time, Permanent

This role sits within the Technical Excellence team, a small, integrated group supporting UK Defence projects to deliver certified, high-quality products. You’ll help maintain engineering standards, develop capability, and gain exposure to international projects.

Responsibilities

• Certify product designs, ensuring technical excellence and minimising risk
• Ensure sufficient evidence supports product compliance to technical requirements
• Collaborate across engineering teams throughout the product lifecycle
• Develop and review verification, validation, and certification plans
• Produce and assess formal compliance and certification documentation

Requirements

• Engineering experience, ideally in defence, aerospace, or high‑tech sectors
• Knowledge of requirements development and design assurance, verification, and certification
• Understanding of full product lifecycle
• Ability to manage complex environments and prioritise effectively
• Strong team player with coaching ability and ownership mindset
• Analytical, investigative, and excellent communication skills
• Work across a variety of projects throughout the product lifecycle
• Influence planning and delivery of certified products
• Build a strong network across engineering and project teams
• Develop technical expertise and assurance perspective for career progression
• Contribute to and share best practice, coaching project teams
