We are seeking an experienced Site Manager to oversee the delivery of a large-scale distribution centre installation project in Crewe. The role will involve managing a complex site with 20β30 principal contractors, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality delivery across all phases of installation and commissioning. This is a hands-on leadership role within a fast-paced warehouse automation environment, covering conveyor systems, AS/RS solutions, and high bay racking installations.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead day-to-day site operations across a multi-contractor environment (20β30 principal contractors)
- Manage and coordinate installation and commissioning activities across warehouse automation systems
- Oversee safe delivery of conveyor systems, conveyor belts, AS/RS solutions, and high bay racking installations
- Ensure strict compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards at all times
- Conduct site inductions, toolbox talks, and ongoing safety management
- Liaise with project managers, stakeholders, and subcontractor teams to ensure smooth delivery
- Monitor programme progress, manage sequencing of works, and report on milestones, risks, and issues
- Maintain high standards of quality control throughout installation and commissioning phases
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Site Manager within distribution centre or warehouse installation environments
- Strong background working on conveyor systems and/or conveyor belt installations
- Experience with AS/RS (Automated Storage and Retrieval Systems)
- Experience with high bay racking systems
- NEBOSH qualification (essential)
- Valid CSCS Black or Gold Management Card (essential)
- First Aid certification (in date and valid)
- Strong understanding of site safety management in live installation environments
- Experience managing multiple subcontractors or principal contractors on large-scale sites
Nice to Have
- Experience with AutoStore systems or similar goods-to-person automation solutions
- Background in warehouse automation, intralogistics, or material handling systems
- Experience in fast-moving commissioning environments
