An exciting opportunity has arisen for an ILS Supportability Engineer to join a highly specialized team working on critical engineering projects. The successful candidate will provide engineering support across design, development, and through-life maintenance, ensuring compliance with industry standards, regulations, and best practices. This role involves managing system obsolescence, reliability assessments, and logistics support to enhance operational efficiency and asset availability.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage obsolescence activities for the system, including system-wide obsolescence reviews, production of obsolescence technical notes, technical change proposals, and maintenance of project obsolescence risk registers.
  • Develop and manage the system’s Data Reporting, Analysis, and Corrective Action System (DRACAS).
  • Conduct system criticality assessments and perform Failure Mode Effects and Criticality Analysis (FMECA) to identify, prioritize, and mitigate areas of poor reliability and potential failures.
  • Chair contractual review meetings with customers and produce regular reports on project obsolescence, DRACAS, and ILS statistics.
  • Support wider technical, operational, and engineering reviews, providing ILS insights.
  • Facilitate the In-Service Review (ISR) and maintain relevant ILS documentation, including Supportability Case Reports, In-Service Reliability and Maintainability Case Reports, Obsolescence Management Plans, and Integrated Logistic Support (ILS) Management Plans.
  • Conduct system reliability and maintainability assessments in line with relevant standards and customer requirements, feeding back findings to improve future designs.
  • Deliver Through-Life Support (TLS) to optimize asset availability, assist with technical queries, and collaborate with equipment suppliers to ensure continued system capability.
  • Work closely with Engineering, Maintenance, Procurement, Production, and Sales teams to ensure best practices and successful ILS activity delivery.

Skills, Experience, and Qualifications:

  • Degree in a relevant engineering discipline or equivalent industry experience.
  • Postgraduate or professional qualification (e.g., Chartered Engineer status) is desirable.
  • Previous experience in Integrated Logistics Support (ILS).
  • Experience using Product Lifecycle Management systems for engineering documentation.
  • Knowledge of submersibles, dive systems, or submarine escape procedures is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with mobilization and de-mobilization of equipment.
  • Understanding of international Quality and Safety standards (ISO 9001, 45001, etc.).
  • Knowledge of ILS standards (e.g., Def Stan 00-600) and regulatory body rules, including Class Standards, LR, DNV, National Standards, IMCA, and ship specifications.
  • Experience in developing compliant designs and modifications for ships and submersible vehicles.
