A leading international engineering and automation business is seeking a Resident Maintenance Engineer to support a highly automated distribution environment in Greater Manchester. This is an excellent opportunity for an electrically biased engineer looking to develop or expand their experience within automation and advanced material handling systems.

The Role

Reporting into the on-site Engineering Manager, you will play a key role in maintaining the reliability and performance of automated equipment across the facility. Key responsibilities include:

  • Carrying out planned preventative maintenance in line with manufacturer guidelines and engineering best practice
  • Diagnosing and resolving electrical and mechanical faults across automated systems
  • Supporting the maintenance of equipment such as:
    • Automated storage and retrieval systems (ASRS)
    • Conveyor systems
    • Cranes and associated automated handling equipment
  • Ensuring all maintenance activities are completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard
  • Supporting continuous improvement and reliability initiatives across the site
  • Building strong working relationships with operational teams and stakeholders on site
  • Maintaining a professional and customer-focused approach at all times

About You | To be successful in this role, you should have:

  • NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent engineering qualification
  • A willingness to work at height when required
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical teams
  • The ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a shift engineering team
  • Previous experience within manufacturing, production, FMCG, logistics, distribution, automation, or similar engineering environments
  • Engineers from other industries who are interested in transitioning into automation are encouraged to apply. Previous exposure to automated machinery or material handling systems would be advantageous but is not essential.
