Network Engineer - Wi-Fi Survey & Access Point Assessment (Slough, UK)

Overview
We are seeking an experienced Network Engineer to perform a short onsite assessment of Wi-Fi performance issues within a meeting room environment. Users are experiencing a noticeable reduction in wireless performance within a conference room despite acceptable connectivity elsewhere in the office. The objective of this engagement is to identify the root cause and recommend the most appropriate remediation.
Scope of Work
- Attend customer site in Slough.
- Assess existing Wi-Fi coverage and signal quality.
- Review current Access Point location and coverage.
- Identify potential sources of interference or signal degradation.
- Perform basic network and cabling checks where required.
- Determine whether the issue is likely related to:
- Access Point placement
- Wireless coverage
- Environmental factors
- Cabling/infrastructure
- Network configuration
- Provide a concise recommendation following the visit.
Deliverables
- Summary of findings.
- Recommended remediation approach.
- Indication of whether the solution is likely to require:
- Additional Access Point(s)
- Access Point relocation
- Wireless repeater/mesh solution
- Cabling replacement or enhancement
- Configuration changes
Skills Required
- Wireless network troubleshooting
- Wi-Fi coverage analysis
- Access Point deployment and configuration
- Basic network infrastructure knowledge
- Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills
Desirable
- Experience with Cisco, Meraki, Aruba, Ubiquiti or similar wireless platforms.
- Wireless survey experience.
- Experience in small office environments.
Contractor Requirements
- Must be able to attend site in Slough.
- Must have own laptop and basic wireless diagnostic tools.
- Able to provide a clear written recommendation following the visit.
