Due to ongoing growth and an expanding project portfolio, our client is seeking a number of Mechanical Engineers. The role involves the design and management of mechanical services for complex buildings, including refurbishment projects. You will work both independently and as part of larger multidisciplinary teams on major schemes.
Responsibilities
- Design and Technical Delivery
- Deliver mechanical building services engineering design solutions across all stages.
- Develop designs from concept through detailed design, site activities and commissioning.
- Carry out engineering calculations and coordinate mechanical services to a high level of accuracy.
- Contribute to the delivery of large-scale and complex projects within multidisciplinary teams.
- Project Involvement Across Sectors
- Support work across commercial, industrial, retail, healthcare, education, defence and leisure sectors in both public and private domains.
- Project and Team Leadership
- Manage your own projects while participating in larger project teams when required.
- Mentor and support junior staff, including graduates and apprentices.
- Assist with project management tasks, contractual matters, team coordination and change control.
Skills and Experience
- Qualification or equivalent experience in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering.
- Membership of, or working towards membership of, a recognised professional institution such as CIBSE, IMechE or IET.
- Experience in mechanical building services design and project supervision.
- Ability to participate confidently in meetings with clients and contractors at all project stages.
- Strong teamwork abilities, particularly on major projects across the UK.
- Experience using AutoCAD, the National Engineering Specification and Microsoft Office.
- Willingness to travel within Ireland and the UK for project work.
- Working towards or holding Chartered Engineer status.
- Experience in healthcare, education or defence sectors.
- Experience with REVIT.
- Understanding of IES or other thermal modelling software.
- Experience as an energy assessor would be advantageous.
- Understanding of BREEAM requirements for mechanical and electrical services.
- Familiarity with Hevacomp or other relevant calculation software.
- Willingness to undertake short periods of international travel if required.
- Ability to obtain security clearance where necessary.
