About the Role

We are seeking a Systems Architect to take ownership of a critical command & control system for defence programmes. This system is at the heart of complex systems, integrating hardware and software to detect, assess, and respond to threats.

You will lead a small engineering team, delivering system and software design, ensuring integration across multiple programmes, and managing design changes from concept to implementation. This is a hands-on leadership role, giving exposure to the full product development lifecycle while delivering capability that protects national and export defence customers.

Key Responsibilities

  • The Systems Architect will lead a small team developing new hardware and software designs
  • Translate requirements into detailed functional design documentation
  • Ensure integration with wider weapon system components
  • Manage design changes and maintain configuration control
  • Report progress, predict schedules, and support programme delivery

Experience & Skills Required

  • Strong understanding of the software/system development lifecycle
  • Experience in systems architecture, design definition, and testing
  • Proficiency in tools such as DOORS, Rhapsody, SysML, or UML
  • Ability to lead small teams and work effectively in cross-functional environments
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and technical judgement
  • STEM degree or equivalent experience
