Job Title: Principle Mechanical Design Engineer Location: Hertfordshire Security Clearance: Up to SC level The Role: So, what will you be doing as a Mechanical Design Engineer? Due to increased demand, we have exciting opportunities to work across the entire product lifecycle—from Mechanical Future Concepts and Detailed Design to Qualification, Production, and In-Service Support. In this role, you’ll lead the development of mechanical solutions for advanced and complex weapons and weapon systems, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver cutting-edge designs. * Lead the development of innovative mechanical design solutions across a variety of challenging projects. * Contribute at all stages of the Product Life Cycle (CADMID), ensuring robust and reliable designs. * Collaborate with diverse, cross-functional teams to address technical challenges and deliver project goals. * Engage with suppliers and internal teams, fostering strong partnerships to drive project success. * Ensure compliance with requirements through testing, proving, and qualification activities. What are we looking for in our next Mechanical Design Engineer? * Degree, HND, or HNC in Mechanical Design or a related discipline. * Proven expertise in Mechanical Design and Development in areas such as mechanisms, structures, assembly/integration, and concept development. * Ability to lead mechanical design work packages and work effectively in a multi-disciplinary team environment. * Awareness of structural, thermal, or dynamic analysis is a plus. * 3D CAD/CAE Proficiency: Familiarity with relevant tools (training on our preferred CAE tools will be provided). * Experience engaging with suppliers and managing cross-functional teams.
