We're looking for an experienced Contract Electronics Engineer to support full lifecycle electronics and firmware development for complex systems, ideally within the defence sector.
Key Responsibilities
- Interpret system requirements and translate them into hardware requirements.
- Design and review electronics/firmware across system, sub-system, and board level.
- Ensure technical solutions meet all legislative, customer, and business needs.
- Provide technical oversight throughout the project lifecycle.
- Support project planning and estimation during kickoff phases.
- Identify and resolve qualification, certification, and safety issues.
- Produce technical documentation (specs, test plans, change requests).
- Liaise with customers and suppliers.
- Oversee test and integration activities, including formal testing.
Essential Requirements
- Proven experience across full hardware project lifecycle (preferably in defence).
- Hands on design of complex electronic systems.
- Track record of delivering reliable solutions on time and budget.
- Collaborative experience in multi-disciplinary teams.
- Degree in an engineering discipline (or equivalent).
- Analogue and digital design
- EMC, electrical safety, signal integrity
- PCB design and schematic capture
- Prototyping, test, and verification at various levels
- Component selection with understanding of obsolescence/environmental constraints (REACH, RoHS)
- PMRP/ECAD tools, DOORS, ERP, and configuration tools
