Job Title: Validation & Development Engineer

Location: Peterborough

Contract: 12 Months

Flexible working arrangements will be considered for this role, in-line with the needs of the business. Hybrid working expectations are 3 days per week minimum office based working.

Job Summary

  • We are currently seeking a Development Engineer to join the Component Engineering Base Engine Team as we approach a period of significant investment in new design to meet our ever changing energy landscape. This role will be focused on design solutions to address challenging requirements, from projects within New Product Introduction, New Technology or updates to existing platforms for a variety.
  • The successful candidate will serve as an experienced contributor on assignments that are complex in nature, working with individuals and teams across global Manufacturing sites, suppliers and customers.

What You Will Do:

  • Execution of Core Engine System validation activities.
  • New product development technical issue resolution.
  • Conducting FMEA on components and systems to identify and address design risks and determine validation needs.
  • Plan and execute validation tests.
  • Conducting component and system design reviews.
  • Keeping peers, team leader and management up to date with progress against planned activities.
  • Support resolution to production, test and field issues, diagnose issues to root cause, put in place containment actions, and develop permanent corrective actions. Work with suppliers and keep stakeholders informed of progress and decisions.

What You Have:

Basic requirements

  • Technical background (HNC or technical degree preferred in mechanical or automotive engineering) though other qualifications or experience are equally valued.
  • Knowledge in a minimum of one or more of the following Core Engine systems: Rotating Systems, Valvetrain, Castings, Lubrication, Breather and Cooling systems, Bolted joint and sealing experience.
  • Good understanding of Manufacturing principles & processes.
  • Development experience of mechanical components and systems, including both rig and complete system testing.
  • Self-motivation and an ability to manage and deliver tasks to meet established commitments.
  • Excellent communications skills & Teamwork.
  • Knowledge of industrial engines in diesel or alternative fuel operation.
  • 8D problem solving, Creation and Maintenance of DVP&R and FMEA’s.
  • Experience of running and participating in FMEA.
  • Knowledge and usage of Team Centre or similar data management software.
  • New design development following the APQP methodology.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft O365 including Teams.
  • Hands on experience with MRP.
