Overview
The 400kV Senior Authorised Person is responsible for the safe operation, maintenance, and oversight of high voltage electrical systems up to 400kV. This role serves as a key subject matter expert, providing technical guidance, operational support, and safety leadership to ensure the integrity and compliance of critical high voltage infrastructure, particularly within the offshore renewables sector.
The 400kV Senior Authorised Person will work closely with Operational Management and operational teams to implement and execute robust high voltage safety processes and procedures across all sites. This role is crucial in maintaining the highest standards of operational safety and supporting the company\\\’s commitment to technical excellence.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background as an Authorised Person on 400kV systems, with extensive hands-on experience in high voltage electrical operations, maintenance, and safety management. Responsibilities
- Serve as a technical expert on 400kV high voltage operations and maintenance activities.
- Carry out 400kV SAP duties, including outage planning, site switching activities, demarcation establishment, and issuing safety documents.
- Provide hands-on guidance, troubleshooting, and oversight to operational teams on complex HV system issues.
- Collaborate with SAPs and the Head of Engineering to ensure technical integrity and operational excellence of high voltage assets.
- Act as a senior technical resource and subject matter expert for High Voltage operations.
- Provide hands-on support, troubleshooting, and problem-solving for complex high voltage issues; collaborate with project managers and engineers to ensure safe and effective execution of high voltage work.
- Support monitoring and reporting on high voltage safety performance.
- Serve as an Authorised Person under the company\\\’s Electrical Safety Management System and support authorisation plans and associated training programmes.
- Ensure strict adherence to high voltage safety rules and procedures by operational teams; provide training and mentorship to less experienced staff on high voltage safety practices.
Knowledge, experience and skills required
- Significant hands-on experience as an Authorised Person on 400kV high voltage systems.
- Proven track record in high voltage electrical operations, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
- Thorough understanding of high voltage safety management, with a focus on the offshore wind industry.
- Familiarity with UK Electricity at Work Regulations or equivalent high voltage safety standards.
- In-depth technical knowledge of 400kV high voltage systems, including design, construction, and commissioning; understanding of how high voltage infrastructure integrates with renewable energy projects.
- Ability to quickly diagnose and resolve complex high voltage issues, providing clear technical guidance; strong analytical and problem-solving skills to support continuous improvement.
