Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with underwriters to evaluate new and renewal business through detailed actuarial analysis.
  • Develop, document, and maintain pricing models and methods tailored to Specialty lines.
  • Provide actuarial recommendations on risk selection, contract structure, and pricing.
  • Collaborate with pricing systems, data, and analytics teams to enhance model infrastructure and data flows.
  • Contribute to business planning, including gross loss ratio projections and reinsurance structure analysis.
  • Support product monitoring and segmental reviews to assess profitability and recommend strategic actions.
  • Track and analyze portfolio trends, market conditions, and rate changes.
  • Maintain a feedback loop between pricing, reserving, capital modelling, and planning functions.
  • Assist with internal and external reporting requirements.

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Qualified actuary (FIA, FCAS, FIAA, FSAI) or near-qualified with strong exam progress.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across teams.
  • Capable of communicating technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Proactive mindset with strong prioritization and time management skills.

Preferred Experience

  • Background in general insurance, London Market, or Specialty lines.
  • Familiarity with Specialty exposures and accumulation models.
  • Proficiency in data tools such as VBA, SQL, R, Python, or similar.
