We are recruiting for a friendly 20-bed Nursing Home in Colwyn Bay and are looking for a reliable and passionate Cook / Chef to join the team. The Role As the Cook / Chef, you will take responsibility for preparing and cooking fresh, nutritious and well-presented meals for residents and staff. You will work closely with the care team to ensure residents' individual dietary, nutritional and allergen requirements are understood and catered for safely. Your responsibilities will include: Preparing and cooking fresh, nutritious home-style meals Planning and preparing meals for residents and staff Catering for individual dietary and nutritional requirements Supporting residents with allergies, intolerances and specialist diets Preparing texture-modified meals where required Maintaining excellent standards of food hygiene Following HACCP food safety procedures Following COSHH requirements and safe use/storage of cleaning products Maintaining accurate food safety and kitchen records Completing fridge, freezer and food temperature checks Correct food labelling, storage and stock rotation Monitoring stock levels and reducing unnecessary food waste Maintaining a clean, safe and organised kitchen Washing dishes and maintaining kitchen cleanliness Following infection prevention and control procedures Working effectively with care staff regarding residents' changing dietary needs Ensuring meals are prepared and served safely and on time What We're Looking For We would love to hear from candidates who have: Previous experience working as a Cook or Chef A recognised Food Hygiene / Food Safety Certificate Good knowledge of food hygiene and kitchen safety Understanding of HACCP and COSHH Awareness of food allergens and dietary requirements Good organisational and time-management skills A genuine passion for preparing quality home-cooked food A caring and resident-focused approach Previous experience working within a Nursing Home, Care Home, Residential Home or Healthcare environment would be highly desirable. You should be comfortable working independently and taking responsibility for the kitchen during your shift. Hours & Pay £15.00 per hour 8:00am 6:00pm 3 or 4 days per week Every other weekend off This role offers excellent daytime working hours with no late-night restaurant finishes . Why Apply?
