Full Time Role
We are recruiting on behalf of an engineering company based in Dudley, West Midlands, who are growing their team and have a new role of a MIG welder. The role of MIG welder is a multi-skilled welder role and consists of all aspects of interpreting engineering drawings and creating finished designs to high standards.
Please note - a weld test will be required during the interview for this position.

The main duties of a MIG welder are:
- Perform welding operations to join sheet metal components together, ensuring high quality welds that meet industry standards and specifications.
- Perform fabrication tasks when needed, such as cutting, drilling or assembling components.
- Carry out quality checks on components, materials and fabricated work and escalate concerns to the Team Leader.
- Select and prepare appropriate sheet materials for fabrication, cut, shape and form sheet steel using various tools such as grinders, sanders, scribes or any necessary tools appropriate to the job.
- Use appropriate measuring instruments to verify dimensions and tolerances, ensuring accuracy and adherence to specified measurements during the fabrication process.
- Assemble fabricated components, fit and align to ensure that the proper functionality and aesthetics are achieved.
- Conduct inspections to ensure that fabricated components meet quality and safety standards.
- Identify and rectify any fabrication defects or discrepancies before being passed on to the next process, to ensure optimal efficiency is maintained and reduced re-works are achieved.
- Apply finishing touches, such as grinding, linishing or polishing to enhance the appearance of the fabricated components.
- Cover other duties within Production as and when required to cover absence, holidays or breaktime.
Key skills required for the role of MIG welder:
- Must have MIG and/or TIG welding experience.
- Must be able to read and interpret engineering drawings.
- Have previous fabrication experience.
- Have worked with sheet metal/thin gauge metal previously.
