They are seeking a health and safety officer to join their SHEQ team. Main Purpose of the Role:
- Ensure compliance with current health and safety legislation and regulations in Great Britain (GB).
- Report serious health and safety incidents and legislative breaches to the Group H&S Officer and Head of SHEQ in a timely manner.
- Investigate incidents and report findings.
- Communicate with clients regarding health and safety matters.
Goals & Objectives:
- Support the maintenance of the Group ISO Integrated Management System and related procedures.
- Assist in developing health and safety strategies and internal policies.
- Conduct risk assessments and recommend risk mitigation measures.
- Develop safe operational procedures considering relevant hazards.
- Perform regular in-house and on-site inspections.
- Support training delivery for managers and employees.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain audit and inspection records; suggest improvements.
- Investigate incidents to identify root causes and prevent recurrence.
- Oversee safe equipment installation and hazardous substance management.
- Provide advice on and maintain an up-to-date COSHH register and storage compliance.
- Enforce health and safety procedures and report non-conformities.
- Deliver training and carry out detailed risk assessments for high-risk tasks.
- Coordinate with other departments on project safety compliance.
- Prepare and implement safety documentation.
- Conduct housekeeping inspections and internal audits.
- Ensure portable electrical equipment meets regulatory standards.
- Review SOPs, method statements, and risk assessments.
- Provide induction and cross-training for staff.
- Attend SHEQ meetings and support the Group H&S Officer as needed.
- Perform additional duties as required by management.
Essential Criteria:
- Qualifications: NEBOSH National Certificate in Construction Health & Safety or equivalent/higher.
- Knowledge & Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years' recent experience in a similar construction-related role.
- Solid understanding of the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 in an engineering or civil engineering context within the UK.
- Familiarity with CDM, LOLER, PUWER, Electricity at Work Act, and Gas Safety Regulations.
- Experience developing policies and risk assessments.
- Proven ability to implement, monitor, and audit safety processes.
- Knowledge of ISO standards: 45001, 14001, and 9001.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Results-focused and collaborative team player.
- Strong risk assessment and control skills.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently.
- Excellent communication and confidentiality awareness.
- Training delivery capabilities.
- Technically capable of understanding complex engineering scenarios.

Desirable Criteria:
- NEBOSH Environmental Management or equivalent/higher.
- Experience with Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS).
