Responsible for leading all SHE efforts at the Ellesmere Port site, including process safety management, environmental, industrial hygiene, occupational health & wellbeing, and emergency management. Focal point for regulatory bodies such as the HSE, EA and local authority on site SHE matters.
The key responsibilities of this role will include:
- Active management of Process Safety Management System/ MAPP to maintain basis of safety for processes on site, and avoidance of major accidents. This includes ownership for and maintenance of the site COMAH Safety report.
- Key liaison with engineering and process teams for projects: general advice, planning and implementation including hazard studies, agreement of risk reduction criteria, environmental permits, process safety advice and safe systems of work.
- Ensures site programs and processes are in place to comply with all relevant SHE legislation and standards.
- Achieve the effective promotion of a Responsible Care culture on the site; reinforce the need for individual responsibility and line management accountability.
- Lead site efforts for continuous improvement in the areas of safety, environmental, process safety, industrial hygiene, emergency response; support cost reduction, process improvement & waste reduction efforts.
- Benchmarking of SHE performance through audits, developing and reporting against SHE objectives and KPIs and identifying areas for improvement.
- Source of advice to all levels of personnel on site on safety, health and environmental matters.
- Management, review and performance of site Integrated Management Systems and externally approved management systems (e.g. ISO 14001, 45001, 50001).
- Development of and coaching in SHE culture, including ensuring suitable SHE training systems in place.
- Developing direct reports to their maximum growth potential.
- Ensure that appropriate priority is given to all aspects of SHE and continuous improvement is achieved, by effectively representing the interests of these functions on the Site Management Team and within other site functions.
