We have an exciting opportunity for a Technical Service Chemist to join the Fuels Specialties Customer Technical Services (FS-CTS) team at Ellesmere Port, reporting to the Laboratory Manager. The FS-CTS team plays a vital role in supporting the continued growth of FS products across the EMEA region. As part of this team, you’ll deliver expert technical support by responding to customer queries, conducting laboratory studies to support the ongoing use of products, develop new formulations and applications, and providing hands-on field support.

Role Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support related to the application of refinery, marine, power, and renewable fuel additives.
  • Support product development of new additive packages driven by customer and industry requirements.
  • Execute technical service projects and provide data to support the business in a timely fashion under direction and priority.
  • Be responsible for routine maintenance and calibration of test equipment.
  • Undertake testing according to standardised industry methods and internal protocols to support fuel additive application.
  • Communicate and report technical information to the technical and sales team, Innospec Fuel Specialties, as well as external customers in a clear and concise manner. This could be verbal or written (e.g. via reports or presentations).
  • Assist in training of staff/customers in test techniques and additive applications, and present technical data as required.
  • Undertake customer visits to support and conduct trials as required.
  • Conduct tests and collate technical responses as required in support of customer tenders.
  • Maintain laboratory areas in a safe and tidy condition according to local standards and carry out risk assessments as appropriate.

Requirements

  • Degree-qualified in chemistry or another relevant scientific discipline.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal.
  • Effective interpersonal skills and experience working in cross-functional teams.
  • Commercial awareness and interest in business applications of science.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally.
